Why Parents Don’t Trust the Educator-in-Chief and His Comrades

They think we’re crazy. “They” are the sneering defenders of Barack Obama who can’t fathom the backlash against the president’s nationwide speech to schoolchildren next Tuesday. “We” are parents with eyes wide open to the potential for politicized abuse in America’s classrooms.

Ask moms and dads in Farmington, Utah, who discovered this week that their children sat through a Hollywood propaganda video promoting the cult of Obama. In the clip, a parade of entertainers vow to flush their toilets less, buy hybrid vehicles, end poverty and world hunger, and commit to “service” for “change.” Actress Demi Moore leads the glitterati in a collective promise “to be a servant to our president.” Musician Anthony Kiedis pledges “to be of service to Barack Obama.”

The campaign commercial crescendos with the stars and starlets asking their audience: “What’s your pledge?”

This same “Do Something” ethos infected the U.S. Department of Education teachers guides accompanying the announcement of Obama’s speech—until late Wednesday, that is, when the White House removed some of the activist language exhorting students to come up with ways to “help the president.”

Education Secretary Arne Duncan had disseminated the material directly to principals across the country—circumventing elected school board members and superintendents now facing neighborhood revolts.

O’s bureaucrats can whitewash offending language from the Sept. 8 speech-related documents, but they can’t remove the taint of left-wing radicalism that informs Obama and his education mentors. A spokesman maintained that the speech is “about the value of education and the importance of staying in school as part of his effort to dramatically cut the dropout rate.” But the historical subtext is far less innocent.

Obama served with Weather Underground terrorist and neighbor Bill Ayers on the Chicago Annenberg Challenge education initiative. Downplaying academic achievement in favor of left-wing radical activism in the public schools is rooted in Ayers’ pedagogical philosophy.

Obama served as the program’s first chairman of the board, while Ayers steered its curricular policy. The two oversaw grants to welfare rights enterprise ACORN and to avowed communist Michael Klonsky—a close pal of Ayers and member of the militant Students for a Democratic Society. SDS served as a precursor to the violent Weather Underground organization.

As investigative journalist Stanley Kurtz reported, Klonsky and Ayers teamed up on the so-called “small schools movement” to steer schoolchildren away from core academics to left-wing politicking on issues of “inequity, war and violence.”

A cadre of like-minded educators and national service administrators across the country share the same core commitment to transforming themselves from imparters of knowledge to transformers of society. The “change” agenda trains students to think only about what they should do for Obama—and rarely to contemplate how his powers and ambitions should be limited and restrained.

Ayers preached his education-as-“social justice” agenda to his “comrades” at the World Education Forum in Caracas, Venezuela, three years ago:

“This is my fourth visit to Venezuela, each time at the invitation of my comrade and friend Luis Bonilla, a brilliant educator and inspiring fighter for justice. Luis has taught me a great deal about the Bolivarian Revolution and about the profound educational reforms underway here in Venezuela under the leadership of President (Hugo) Chavez. We share the belief that education is the motor-force of revolution, and I’ve come to appreciate Luis as a major asset in both the Venezuelan and the international struggle—I look forward to seeing how he and all of you continue to overcome the failings of capitalist education as you seek to create something truly new and deeply humane.”

Ayers continued: “I walked out of jail and into my first teaching position—and from that day until this I’ve thought of myself as a teacher, but I’ve also understood teaching as a project intimately connected with social justice. After all, the fundamental message of the teacher is this: You can change your life—whoever you are, wherever you’ve been, whatever you’ve done, another world is possible. As students and teachers begin to see themselves as linked to one another, as tied to history and capable of collective action, the fundamental message of teaching shifts slightly, and becomes broader, more generous: We must change ourselves as we come together to change the world. Teaching invites transformations, it urges revolutions small and large. La educacion es revolucion!”

This is why informed parents do not trust the Educator-in-Chief and his “comrades.” You can take Obama from the radicals in Chicago. But you can’t take the Chicago radicalism out of Obama

I’ll be damned if I’m going to have this socialist pig trying to indoctrinate MY child! I saw some of the paperwork the teachers are supposed to discuss, & it suggests having the children read books about him to know who he is:

1)A socialist/communist/marxist/etc
2)Hates his country
3)Kami-kazis his way into the presidency to bring the country to ruins
4)Racist
5)Imposter
6)Muslim sympathizer

Lets see, ooh! I can’t wait to have my daughter think that she can be like this! NOT!

My daughter will attend her first day of school on Sep 9th! And I am also going to watch for what is being taught through the year in her other subjects, & so help me God, if I find any liberal bullshit coming her way, the day of reckoning will come!

I think that democrats just don’t get it. On facebook, some democrat was posting about Obama’s speech:

“Parents planning to have their kids skip school so as not to hear the broadcast of President Obama’s speech on Tuesday — a speech encouraging students to stay in school and get their education — should have, perhaps, spent more time pursuing t...heir own education. It is sad that such ignorance, disrespect, and racism is alive and well in the dark, fear-filled corners of America”

I posted:

” wish it would be bi-partisan speeches where you have both political parties coming together on education. Bobby Jindal would have been a great person to represent the republican side of the issue, especially since he is a Rhodes Scholar.”

I got this response:

“okay, so a Democratic president is saying “stay in school...get a good education”...how could a Republican Rhodes Scholar express that sentiment so that it is more bi-partisan?”

Democrats do not want anything bi-partisan. They just want to be in control.

If all the resources that we put into nagging kids to “stay in school” went to making the schooling more worthwhile, maybe we’d have graduates who can read, spell, and add.

Probably most of the teachers, at least in basic subjects, could do the job adequately if simply conveying the academic information was the job. Unfortunately, the job has been defined by political action to include indoctrination, social engineering, psychological manipulation, and all kinds of hoo-hah unrelated to the academic instruction people need to function adequately.

I guarantee you, you will see liberal BS. Most will not be as overt as a communist faux president giving a live address, but have no illusions that the PC/lib mindset is firmly entrenched in the school system.

We share the belief that education is the motor-force of revolution,
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Marxism ( mixed with fascism) is our nation's **most** serious threat. Government schooling which educates about 85% of the nation's children, is the Marxist-fascist's **most** important weapon! If the Marxist-fascists can win the hearts of minds of children in a few short years they win elections.

First, from reading the posts on Free Republic, I am distressed at how many conservative fail to recognize that Marxism ( with fascism) is indeed our nation's MOST important threat. They can not see the forest for the trees and are instead focused on the particular political issue of the day.

Next,...It is plainly evident that only a minority of conservatives understand that government schools from the very beginning WERE and ARE a **SOCIALIST** middle class entitlement!!! If you envelop children ( for 13 or more years) in a socialist program naturally they will learn to accept socialism! Conservatives wrongly believe that eliminating the Department of Education, having local control, changing the school board, or having conservative control of the schools would fix the government schools. None of this will!

Too many conservative fail to realize that government schools are SOCIALISM and socialism can NOT be fixed! We must eliminate the government schools and do what ever is legally possible to achieve that end. Doing this will do 2 things:

1) It will get children out of the socialist stew.
2) It will deprive the Marxist ( fascists) of their **most** powerful weapon against freedom.

Yeah? So what will you do? Have a temper tantrum in the school? These Marxists **know** that they will long outlast and parent with a kid in “their” school.

Obamabots have no idea what the speech is about because it hasn’t been published. Why doesn’t Obama show us all the speech ahead of time to end the speculation? What is he afraid of?

How could Obama object to sharing the podium with a Republican if the only purpose is to keep kids in school?

I think we all know the answers to these questions.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Just by stepping foot in a government school, children learn to be socialists. They subtly learn that it is OK for the government to take money from their neighbor to pay for a service that their parents want for tuition-free. Added to this object lesson in socialism are the teachers who for 13 or more years teach the children it is a **right** for the government to take money from their neighbor to pay for their schooling.

It is short step from accepting “neighbor-paid-for-schooling” to believing that they have a **right** to have their fellow citizens pay for free retirement, drugs, health care, transportation, arts and entertainment, disability, and even food, clothing and housing.

Government schools were and are now, and always will be a daily, minute by minute, lesson in socialism! Socialism can NOT be fixed. Government schools, like other socialist programs must be eliminated!

I say this because I don’t want you to show ire to the wrong FReeper. If you disagree with my thoughts, that is absolutely your right...but do come at the right FReeper when you do it.

Thank you.

Anyone interested in the roots of radical liberal pedagogy should look into Paolo Freire. A LOT of his philosophy is in place right now in public schools.

ANOTHER REASON TO HOMESCHOOL

This ping list is for the “other” articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)

The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.
