Goldwater Jr.: Obama Policies 'Scare the Hell Out of Me'

Former California Rep. Barry Goldwater Jr. says President Barack Obama's big-government reforms are "potentially jeopardizing future generations," admitting to Newsmax.TV that "It scares the hell out of me.”

Goldwater, the son of Republican icon Barry Goldwater, warns in an exclusive Newsmax.TV interview that Obama's plans for a government-run health insurance scheme overlook one a crucial fact: There's no historical evidence the federal government can effectively operate such a massive government program.

Goldwater, who worked as a stockbroker and business executive before he won his first congressional campaign in 1969, believes the insurance business is best left to the private sector. But he adds that citizens are right to "insist that insurance companies do a better job of meeting their responsibilities."

The former congressman interjected himself in the healthcare debate in August, when he wrote a commentary for The American Spectator in which he provided a long list of federal programs that have become organizational and fiscal nightmares:

And yet, what Obama does can be *undone* by a Republican majority. Literally *nothing* Obama does is written in concrete. But the Republicans *act*, and have long *acted* like there is nothing they can do against the endless and obscene Democrat perversions to the US constitution. Against their efforts to destroy our economy and our nation.

Why are the Republicans so utterly spineless about this? Is there even a *single* Republican congressmen or senator who will ever, *ever* use the word “repeal”?

Even Ronald Reagan did not reduce the size of government. He only reduced the rate of growth of government. And then he increased government spending by two or three fold. Where is the sanity in doing that?

It has passed the point where either political party has the will to be responsible. The federal government is behaving like a rampaging beast. And only the individual States are the last hope to *stop* this madness.

There is no way that the US can possibly, under any fantasy, meet the promises of literally dozens of trillions of dollars in every direction. It cannot be done. No way and no how.

So one way or another, these promises must end.

All the nonsensical debts must be renounced.

The federal government must be returned to constitutionality and control.

I don't have Goldwater's autograph, but I do have signed autographed photos of Charleston Heston, Jonis Salk, and Sir Edmund Hillary.

He said it all. The pubs are the handmaiden butt boys. They are the local the dems are the express. The only play is to get hold of the congress.

We need a renewed Republican party that can find the guts to stand up for the constitution and restore it through massive reform.
