Downing Street has hit back at Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton for attacking the decision to release the Lockerbie bomber.

President Obama and the US Secretary of State fuelled a fierce American backlash against Britain, claiming Abdelbaset Al Megrahi should have been forced to serve out his jail sentence in Scotland – but a senior Whitehall aide said their reaction was ‘disingenuous

No. 10 turns on Obama and Clinton for critiicisng decision to release Locerbie bomber

British officials claim Mr Obama and Mrs Clinton were kept informed at all stages of discussions concerning Megrahi’s return.

The officials say the Americans spoke out because they were taken aback by the row over Megrahi’s release, not because they did not know it was about to happen.

This could be a revelation that the Obama administration could fear more than any of their recent troubles.

The British Government is saying that Obama is a cowardly, stab-you-in-the-back lying cockroach. Obama approved the release and then denounced the release.

“This could be a revelation that the Obama administration could fear more than any of their recent troubles.”

Number of times this will be reported in New York Times: 0
Number of times this will be reported in NBC/ABC/CBS: 0

It is up to Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity and blogs (and maybe a private citizen from Alaska) to make this an issue in the US. Expect some big Bush “scandal” to emerge tomorrow in the front page of New York Times.

Well, well, well. No surprise here, unfortunately. It might be even worse with the Obama Administration urging the release (pure speculation).

This was the obvious conclusion: the Brits would never have done this without keeping Washington informed. And Obama must have given them the go-ahead, because they would not have done it without his consent.

But it’s good to have this open confirmation.

Obama hates the Brits, and probably takes great pleasure in damaging the Special Relationship. But this also embarrasses him. And malignant narcissists don’t appreciate being embarrassed.

I wonder why Downing Street decided to come out with this now? Either because the political pressure on them from British voters was getting too great, or because they judged that Obama has been so weakened by recent political attacks on Obamacare that now may be the time to strike back, while he is crippled and in a weak position to retaliate.

In any case, it was obvious where Obama stood on England when he sent the bust of Churchill back, and of course by his contemptuous treatment of Brown when he visited DC.

Not surprising for Obama & Company.

I hope Rush, Beck, Levin, Savage, Hannity and others pick it up and keep it going.

My guess is that it blows away unless we keep the heat on like Van Johnson.

Obama reserves the right to be the one to free terrorists. How dare someone else do it.

The Europeans wanted Obama to win, and he did. Now they’re seeing the reality of the man behind the Hope-’n-Change signs. We warned them...

Wait until Obama sits down with Quadaffi at the UN later this month. Kisses his brother and puts the Dagger in Israel’s corpse. His UN visit is during between The Jewish New Year and Yom Kipper. Hmmm you have to wonder the timing.

The Brits finally outed Obama and Clinton for their role in this travesty of justice.

Pres. Clinton gave pardons out to some very radical people.

Who will Obama pardon???

Uaually I’m not too interested in political scandal. The Democrats control the media, so scandal is always going to work against conservatism. Democrat scandals don’t get any ink. Conservative missteps are covered for weeks.

This business seems different. If the British government is scared about the way this terrorist release thing is playing out, they could thrash around and damage OHB and HRC quite a bit.

That would be OK with me.

(Salmond) said there had been wide consultation with American families and politicians, including Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

All the pols involved here were “disingenuous,” insincere or not frank. It also appears that all were “duplicitous,” taking both sides of an argument. Gee, not just talking our of both sides of their mouths, but telling different lies out of the two sides. I don’t think I could do that.

Depending on what Her Thighness knew and when she knew it, the smartest thing she could do right now would be to resign in protest. It’s clear she’s been marginalized by Barry-O’s crew and this is her chance to use that to her advantage and jump ship while she can.....and while it will position her for ‘12.
