We are getting to a time in Cal when the government will confisicate wealth and dole out food twice a week and clothing once a year.

The fee is going to generate $50 million. They’ve hired 175 employees to regulate us to death. $50 million / 175 = $286k/year. Not bad work if you can get it.

I’m always thrilled to have the privilege to pay more taxes to hire more regulators who will figure out new ways to tax me so they can hire more regulators who will jack up my taxes, etc., etc.

"O2—you have to inhale O2 to make CO2. My Dad always told me that at some point the government would figure out a way to tax air."

the average couch potato created about one half a ton of this "deadly, evil, CO2" toxic gas a year. The active marathon runner produces ten times that, about 5 tons.

Will the government start taxing these nasty, environment destroying health freaks? I sure hope so. I'm so sick of sitting in my car in a traffic jam while these smog producing health nuts run by, belching out more co2 than my honda civic.

>>Regulators estimate that overall, the average consumer will pay less than $1.50 a year more once the fee is passed down by energy providers and others that release greenhouse gasses

If that’s “all” it’s going to cost (which works out to $50M/year), why bother passing it. The state of California spends that much every 4 1/2 hours!

Man, they really don’t get it.

Say goodbye to more industries and more of the tax-paying population.

Soon... only the illegals will be there draining the system.

We are already there. They take MY wealth, and give it to welfare bums, along with foods stamps and a twice yearly clothing allowance check, as well as bedding allowances, furniture allowances, household appliance maintenance checks.

You just have to know what the system allows, and you too could live off someone else's dime.

The problem is, these businesses shut down, move out of state and then take their same stinkin liberal views to the next state and wreck it as well. They never learn.

Isn’t that the truth...I am trying to do my part by being a couch potato (and laying off Mexican food.) G-d help those health nuts..

Regulators estimate that overall, the average consumer will pay less than $1.50 a year more once the fee is passed down by energy providers and others that release greenhouse gasses linked to global warming.

Yeah sure. Cap'nTrade did a lot worse damage than that to the German economy. WSJ, 9/11/2006, p.A1.

With regard to Nevada pursuing California businesses, here in the Golden State on the national cable channels such as CNBC, when the local cable companies get to run their ads, the state of Navada has purchased TV ad time and is running highly creative and rather funny ads soliciting CA businesses to relocate in NV. Oh, they mention, no state income taxes and low workers’ comp rates among other things.
