We've seen this happen not once, but twice before: the Jayson Blair debacle at the New York Times in 2003 and the Rathergate fiasco at CBS News in 2004. In both cases, these scandals devastated trust in the MSM and (in my opinion!) contributed mightily to the fall of many newspapers, news magazines and the evening network news broadcasts.

For most people in this country, the resignation was the first they had heard of Van Jones. For this sin of journalistic omission, there's institutional media blame. Bias is too tame a word for the utter shamelessness on display: Only Republican scandals - real and imagined - matter.

And it's not just those the Democratic-Media Complex dub as "mobs" or "tea baggers" that are taking notice. Diminishing audience and evaporating subscribership reflect widespread consumer dissatisfaction. Eventually, the money will run out.

The MSM can lie by omission but they can't get away with it forever - they won't have enough viewers or subscribers to keep the doors open...

I think that's right. The traditional media outlets would be suffering even if they were far more balanced than they are. The fact of the matter is both newspapers and television (broadcast and cable) have a relentlessly aging audience, and neither medium has shown any ability to attract a younger audience, at all.

So, when they can't replenish their aging (and dying) audience, and they alienate half of that older demographic because they're so blatantly partisan, it's a recipe for the disaster almost all of them are in today.

Newspapers have always had an older audience. The young don’t vote ( except in the minds of nutty liberals who are always proven wrong ) and the young don’t read newspapers. The best shot newspapers have is to be fair and unbiased. If they’re not, they don’t have a chance.

They don’t now and is only a matter of time, unless they become officially state run.

The Secret Service reports to Homeland Security now. Janet Napolitano controls it.

"The young don’t vote ( except in the minds of nutty liberals who are always proven wrong )"

You're not the first person I've seen make this kind of statement. I'm not sure what drives it. Perhaps it has something to with Obama's strong showing among the 18-29 year-old demographic and our desire to temper that success with the fallacy that "the young don't vote".

In 2008, the 18-29 year-old demographic accounted for 18% of the total votes cast. In comparison, the over 60 demographic accounted for just over 23% of the total vote cast. Sure, the over 60 cast more votes, but there's a whole lot more over 60 people - and that trend will continue as the baby-boomers age.

What's more interesting however, is according to Tuft's University - which has done exhaustive research on the subject - the "youth" vote increased 60% from 2004 - well outpacing their older American colleagues. While they still aren't voting in the "percentage of eligible voters" that's seen in the older demographics, they're catching up - quickly.

Youth Turnout Rate Rises to at Least 52%

Lastly, Obama captured the 18-29 year-old demographic 66%-32%, which is the highest margin of victory recorded since the 60's - and perhaps ever as these statistics weren't kept prior to then. Obama's 66-32 margin represents some 7.9 million more actual votes than John McCain. Obama's total margin of victory over McCain was only 9.5 million. Essentially, Obama's dominance in the youth vote accounted for just over 83% of his total margin of victory.

Do you still think the "young don't vote?"

"Well, we disagree."

We may disagree, but I see you don't provide any statistics to back-up your erroneous conclusion. Keeping your head in the sand may give you some comfort, but it doesn't make for a very effective political strategy nor does it demonstrate any conclusions based on fact or reality.

Fear not, you seem to be in plentiful company. Perhaps that will give you additional comfort.

The SRM keeps wondering why their viewership keeps dropping? Prime example of why! Person goes to work and talks about it, 1/2 the peopleknow nothing about it but know person who did know aboiut it watches FoxNews so they go home tune in and eventually quit watching other stations who report their Obama Propaganda.

Soon, Obama will appoint a “Save The Dinosaur Media” czar, and will shunt millions of “stimulus” dollars to them so they can still propagandize their remaining 72 viewers/readers. He will then proclaim that he saved thousands of meaningful jobs, which will be trumpeted faithfully by the dying media he helped to save.
