I think:
“I” gets used a whole lot in the speech the worst being “I’m trying to get you more books and better classrooms.
Comes off like a campaign speech.
“I’m trying to get you more books and better classrooms.”
That is completely inappropriate. Can you imagine if George W. Bush had given such a speech and said, “I am trying to get your parents school vouchers so they can get you out of these failing public schools and into the quality private schools.”
