No. Alcohol is ONE of MANY substances of abuse. It holds a unique place, not only in American culture, but in the culture of humankind for all of history. It is believed that susceptibility to alcohol addiction varies widely in the population.
Deaths from drunken driving are but a portion of the harm caused by the misuse if this drug. Even if alcohol were to disappear from the Earth, all of the other substances of abuse would still cause untold harm.
