“a book written by someone who can’t construct two cohesive sentences together.”

Either redundant or ignorant: if “cohesive”, “construct” already makes the point. If “coherent”, the writer shows why a thesaurus is such a great tool.

Sheesh...

Murdoch has anted up a seven-figure advance for a book written by someone who can't construct two cohesive sentences together.

With one sentence Geoffrey Dunn has completely undermined his point and impeached his self-proclaimed credibility as an icon of intellectual integrity.

You nailed it, it struck me the same way, “cohesive” just grates on the nerves in that sentence.
