UPDATE: KMJ News has learned that Republican Assemblyman Mike Duvall has been stripped of his position as vice-chair of the Utilities and Commerce Committee.
GOP Assemblyman Mike Duvall didn't realize he was sitting near an open microphone earlier this summer when he decided to divulge dirty details about his sexual escapades to a colleague before the start of a committee hearing.
"KCAL-9" reporter Dave Lopez broke the story Tuesday after obtaining the video of Duvall discussing his sexual affairs.
Duvall can be heard telling the man that one woman "...showed up in her underwear...", one day after he and the woman apparently "made love... alot".
The Republican legislator went into further detail about how he had "...gotten into spanking her".
As if Duvall's divulgence weren't enough, there are legal ramifications for his actions since his alleged mistresses are both lobbyists in Sacramento.
According to "KCAL's" Lopez, one of the women worked for a firm that represents utility companies. Duvall is the vice-chair of the powerful Utilities and Commerce Committee.
Married with two grown children, Duvall has been heralded for voting "...time and time again to protect and preserve family values in California", according to the Capitol Resource Institute.
The two-term assemblyman was also honored back in 2000 with the "Ethics in America Award" from Chapman Univeristy for demonstrating "...the highest standards of ethical integrity".
Duvall is up for re-election next year.
Anybody want to bet the story would have been written the same way if the pervert had been a Rat?

Having said that, the media is making a big deal about the fact that he opposed gay marriage, as if there were some commection between his immorality and his stance on gay marriage. I guess, to the extent the only issue is morality, there is. But his adultery, while immoral, at least makes biological sense. Homosexual behavior does not. Gay marriage does not. Adultery is wrong. Homosexual behavior is sick and wrong.

"I am deeply saddened that my inappropriate comments have become a major distraction for my colleagues in the Assembly, who are working hard on the very serious problems facing our state. I have come to the conclusion that it would not be fair to my family, my constituents or to my friends on both sides of the aisle to remain in office. Therefore, I have decided to resign my office, effective immediately, so that the Assembly can get back to work."
