WASHINGTON (CNN) — CNN's Deirdre Walsh reports that Republican Rep. Joe Wilson called the White House Wednesday night to apologize for his outburst during President Obama's speech, and spoke with White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel.

In the great scheme of history, NO ONE will remember that Joe apologized —just that SOME ONE yelled at him LIAR.
Imagine that the kid who yelled “The King has no clothes..!” was made to apologize —would anyone care?
No.
Joe didn’t CAUSE Zero’s slide in popularity —his yell was just an effect.
But more and more people will understand that. I feel down to my bones that Obama is a one-termer, who might even slide lower than Jimmy Carter.
Geez...lost my vote! He obviously succumbed to political pressure...too bad. Seems like nobody has the guts to tell it like it is these days regardless of circumstances.
Yes...I can barely understand the argument by others that this was a Presidential Address to the Congress... Well, maybe that is the problem - after all, 2/3rds of the populace despise the Congress and who knows about the President. I think it may be time to act more like the British do - ridicule when necessary since the media does not do it.

I bet Joe clarifies his comments and apology tomorrow. He will say it was an inappropriate forum to call the President a liar but what the President was saying was not truthful.

I disagree. He got his point across and he obviously understands how so many of us feel. It was bad decorum (I hate that word... makes me think of drapes and candlesticks) and an apology was not out of line.
Even in apology he still said he disagreed.
He still gets my check. We need a little more fire like that in congress instead of the dead fish “we all still profit” congresscritters on both sides of the aisle.
Obama lies about everything. The Big Story is now "Wilson Apologizes to Obama".
I hope to see that tomorrow. He has that huge opportunity to speak out. The apology takes away the left's ability to spin it. Let's hope he backs it up.
If I was calling the WH to apologize and I got routed to Emanuel, the apology would be out the window.

The standards of decorum have to do with the Separation of Powers doctrines and not partisan politics.
The Houses of Congress INVITE the President who comes, presumably on his best behavior, to visit the Congress, also on its best behavior.
Joe Wilson violated the rules.
At the same time he "Spoke Truth to Power", and caused Nazi Pelosi to dislodge her jaw momentarily.
Of course he's going to apologize for having disrupted the tradition of decorum. I would too.
But that stupid, lieing SOB wouldn't come over to the Congress again and tell us that half the country are a bunch of lieing thieves and money grubbers.

Joe Wilson singlehandedly changed the political equation tonight, and whether or not he ‘apologized’ later does not undo the good that he did.
