Surprise. Surprise.

President Hamid Karzai has received 54% of the vote in Afghanistan with nearly all ballots tallied, enough to avoid a runoff.

His re-election has been accompanied by “convincing evidence of widespread fraud,” according to a U.N.-backed commission. A recount, observers insist, will produce the same results since the process will be conducted by a host of Karzai appointees.

The crooked election, according to Ronald E. Neumann, a former U.S. ambassador to Afghanistan, will serve to undermine the U.S. mission to free the country from the grips of the Taliban and radical Islam.

“The perception of fraud will shorten the length of time that one can expect foreign aid,” Mr. Neumann said. “People will get disgusted. They’ll say, ‘Why do I sacrifice my son for a leadership that cannot rally the country fairly?”

Mr. Neumann appears to be overly optimistic.

Someone please correct me if I’m wrong, but it is my understanding that Obama has added restrictions to the rules of engagement in Afganistan to limit the exposure of civilians to harmful fire or explosive detonation and that this is costing American lives by limiting artillery and gunship support.

Is this true, and if so, why isn’t it public knowledge?

I read on FR the other day about how the government is making it harder to sign up for the military....WHY?
Will there suddenly be a shortage of military and he’ll have to reinstate the draft...OR... a shortage of military so it will be easier to put in place his own (UNION) brown shirts?

Obama is sacraficing our soldiers to the enemy. It’s not like he knows anyone over there fighting....all of his friends and family are against the war.

We have a White House full of anti war loons and they are in charge of a war? Does that make sense to anyone?

Publizing ROE are not always a good thing. 4 brave Marines were slaughtered due to these ROE's, no air cover was given as they were pinned down and out of ammo.

Sadly, one was a precious son from this area---27-year-old, married, two small children at home; third tour in Afghanistan. May God comfort and bless his heartbroken family.
