Then they point it at a dish of unsuspecting cells.

And what would those cells do if they suspected something? Run for their lives?

Ridiculous, alarmist claptrap.

As soon as lefties stop spreading bad info about irradiation, I'll take their other warnings more seriously.

So what in GMO causes autism?

When genetically modified organisms hit the FDA's radar in the early 90's FDA scientists were adamant that GMO foods were significantly different than conventional foods."

Huh? GMO foods were around a long, long time before the early 90's. Since just about everything you eat today has been genetically modified in some way, it's hard to understand what this chick means when she says that GMO foods are significantly different than conventional foods. Conventional?

Without GMO we never would have experienced the "Green Revolution" and a billion of people (or more) wouldn't be alive today. Denying the incredible benefits that came from GMO foods is akin to saying that Norman Borlaug isn't one of the greatest Americans of our age. Only a complete fool would believe or say such a thing.

You needed the government to tell you that inhaling smoke from cigarettes was bad for you even though the industry was attempting to deny it?

No wonder you demonize American industry. Relying on the government, or one of its agencies, to supply you with information most people derive from their common sense is unfortunate.

"Every single bite of food you put into your mouth has been genetically modified one way or the other. Every. Single. Bite."

Every single child on planet earth is a genetically altered human being by the combining of two alien sources ... one male and one female.

Each genetically modified child grows (if allowed) to become a genetically modified adult who in turn modifies his and her own genetically modified child.

A few of these dangerous mutations become President of the United States.

No one should be surprised by the fact that someone who doesn’t understand the science of genetic modification is scared by it. You’re the one who doesn’t seem to have a clue as to what’s going on. If you truly understood the topic you wouldn’t be posting such hysteria.

So what in GMO causes autism?

He doesn't have any idea. It just does. I mean, he read it on the internet after all. Sheesh, how much more proof do you need?

I always thought the increase was caused by increased government funding but if Shelly Roche says it's GMOs and Jenny McCarthy says it's mercury in vaccines, how can I argue?

I mean, just look at those brains.

Foolish statement, would you like me to point you to studies from Kansas and Iowa about how the yields of GMO crops are less than natural seed crops, it's true, you are uneducated.

That’s a problem conservatives have. We tend to believe in “business” and dis-believe in gov’t. Remember the tobacco cancer reports? Cigarettes should have been put on the fast track to extinction decades ago. Sometimes the sky really is falling.

parsy, who figures the FDA fell down on the job

Thanks for the reply. However, in this day and age, I trust business more than I do government?! Not that I trust either very much, but I have absolutely no faith in what we are being told by this administration. Ex. the Swine flu—I have no idea where the truth lies.

However what scares me even more than government is the facist/socialist/marxist types that inhabit Green groups. Rush has said the Environmentalist movement is the new home of socialists since communism fell in Europe. I think the outing of Van Jones bears this out.

I personally have many more concerns regarding my future than GM food. Our country is about ready to go down the drain....not going there in this post, but I think yu know what I mean. :(

BTW, as I understand it, the GM technology in this country have not been incorporated into food for human consumption anyway—unless you are talking about all forms of hybrid plant breeding like seedless watermelons.

I heard that irradiation makes food radioactive!

Not only that, it makes you glow in the dark! Just look at those pigs!

No. The ones from the 40’s, 50’s, and early 60-’s where the tobacco industry assured the public that cigarettes did not cause cancer. Which, in theoretical anarcho-capitalist thought, could not possibly have happened.

No. I need and we need the gov’t to make the tobacco companies admit this.

parsy, who notes trial lawyers eventually got the truth out.

Nobody on this thread has looked at the FDA documents linked on this thread stating the dire warnings ... But those are nothing, the evidence for the danger here is overwhelming ...

Yeah, because people weren't calling them coffin nails after those reports.

I agree we have bigger problems. But I think people playing with the building blocks of life is like monkeys playing with loaded guns in a kindergarten. It ain’t “if”, it’s “when.”

People may know the emperor is in his undies, but the truth/deception has to be brought out in the open for it to be acknowledged/not continue “denial”

parsy, who says the truth can set us free, well maybe not free, but at least less innocent
