The average June-August 2009 summer temperature for the contiguous United States was below average the 34th coolest on record, according to a preliminary analysis by NOAAs National Climatic Data Center in Asheville, N.C. August was also below the long-term average. The analysis is based on records dating back to 1895.

Must be driving the global warming promoters crazy that the ice extent in Arctic this year wasn't as bad as 2007 and 2008 and the Northwest Passage wasn't open this year.
http://nsidc.org/data/seaice_index/daily.html I have noticed that there have only been a few of the hysterical “ice-melting” in Arctic this year compared to the past couple of years.
Also note that the ice growth in the Antarctica this year is well above average.

Where I live had August and July more like what we would expect of early May and late September.

My daughter and one of her classmates were giving me a hard time about why I don’t believe in Global Warming as I drove them home from school today. I just quietly rolled down all the windows in the car and locked them out. It was about 60 degrees out this afternoon.
After about a minute of that, they stopped bugging me about Global Warming. “Daddy! I’m COLD!...”

We had about 3 weeks of pool time up here in NE Ct. Summer just never got around to getting here. 55 and wet as I type.

My head HVAC mechanic was in my office today with a burned up starter for our Main Chiller. I told him to secure the unit for the season, and that he could repair it at his leisure.
I’ve never said anything like that the week after Labor Day before...

Look at this chart. The Arctic Sea Ice Extant during the Summer minimum (which is where we are right now) reached it’s lowest point in 2007. Then, last year (2008) there was more ice. Now, in 2009, it’s more than the previous two years. So the trend, since 2007 has been more sea ice at the Summer minimum, not less which is what the AGW promoters have been predicting. They are flat out wrong.

That is a great chart — thanks. I see that site is only for the Arctic, have you seen a similar one for the Antarctica?

Don’t forget... This is during an El Nino.
