Yes, what you say is true. This was not his idea. He wanted to be in DC. He often spoke of this on his program.

I got the distinct feeling that this is what his higher ups wanted.

LOL. An army of Pintos. That's the ticket.

Your attitude, with due respect, is EXACTLY what has been wrong with "our side" for 20 years. We don't want to have a "bad reputation" and not be "classy."

Sorry, but we are way beyond classy. I'm not interested in a reputation. I'm interested in winning, because if we lose one or two more battles "classily" we won't have a country.

Did the allies say in WW II, "You know, bombing those cities might not be classy? We might have a bad reputation?" No, they only asked, "is it effective? Does it win?" The answer to mass Alinsky-type tactics is, "it does win."

Okay. Baby is napping, so here I am, better late than never. If you have followed Beck for any length of time, you know that his mother committed suicide. He has this mind that races on fast forward all the time. I know what that is like because I am the same way. It is difficult to manage. I am not bipolar. When I was just starting school, I thought everyone was like this. I didn’t understand why people needed to study, study, study. I taught myself to read before I was three. Because I WANTED TO READ. They call it Autodidacticism, but that doesn’t really explain it either.

It’s a NEED to learn everything you possibly can as fast as you can and never forget it. You can’t just concentrate on one thing at a time because the mind is like a bicycle hub with spokes reaching out in every different direction at the same time. YOU are trying to follow all of them simultaneously.

When a mind like this is traumatized, it becomes a terrific burden. You cannot think in a straight line. Beck turned to alcohol to stop his mind from racing. I have seen others do worse. Some have committed suicide. (Like Beck’s mother.)
So I can understand why he might fear the same thing happening to him.

The way to control it is to find something central that all of these spokes can be associated with. Beck turned to GOD.
I did as well, although I was already mostly there.

And everything you do after that is predicated on what is right and what is wrong. You do everything in your power to do the right thing every time. That is what Beck does.
Your sense of justice, truth, honor, and morality is on high alert all the time. It causes hyper awareness of everything around you. It is like a sixth sense and you operate with it 24/7.

It is difficlt to sleep because you are always thinking.
“What is wrong and how can I fix it?” (But sometimes you can’t.)
“Why are they lying and how can I tell the truth so others will know it too?” (But sometimes they don’t believe you.)
“Why doesn’t anyone seem to see this stuff but me?” (But sometimes you notice what others never see.)

What often seems very obvious to me is barely, if even, noticed by anyone else. And even though I KNOW this, I still find myself not understanding how or why sometimes.

This is Beck. He found a way through radio to use ALL of this. He notices what others don’t. He connects the dots where no one else has seen a dot.

I knew it the first time I ever heard him.

I don’t think that was my theory at all. At least, that’s not what I meant.

I think that there is a large portion of the American people that are more interested in living in a free, healthy nation than in being a part of the political party in charge. We don’t believe that government healthcare will lower costs, or that banks are too big to fail, or that a democratic Iraq will prevent another 9/11.

The Dems have capitalized on the myth that FDR ended the Great Depression for 50+ years. The GOP has capitalized on the legacy and success of Reagan.

The truth is that both parties are two sides of the same coin and regardless of who is power, the people that work all day, go home to their house, and raise their famililes are caught in the middle. The Democratic Party of JFK is gone. The GOP of Ronald Reagan is gone. The people are still here, and just trying to make a life for themselves and their families.

No one is DC understands the terror that many working Americans feel when the transmission in their car breaks. $3k to the poorest congressman is still chump change. $3k to a person that makes $18/hr (which is far above the poverty line) is serious money that will require some cutbacks in the household budget.

I believe that Beck does want to create a third party, but only after he has created a following of people drawn from both parties. Like the rest of us, he understands that the “Ross Perot” Effect of trying to create a third party from one of the two existing parties is suicide. So, he wants to attract the disaffected members of both parties that think that the system is broke for them, and draw them into a voting bloc first.

Once the 9-12 Conservative Bloc is established, he can force both parties to court them for votes. The political system has evolved to the point where every race is almost 50-50, so a bunch of people with a posted list of morals and values suddenly becomes the tie-breaker in every race.

If we start getting some attention in Congress and politicians start pandering to our values, then we win. If they ignore us, then we take it to the next level and form the new party.

Most people I know (libs and cons) believe that the other party is more corrupt than their own. We don’t think that it’s good vs evil anymore...it’s just evil vs really evil in DC. Beck is trying to use that legitimate sense of distrust to form a coalition of Americans, and then use that to retake control of our government.

Because the system is so broken and people have no reason to trust anyone in Washington, I support his efforts because they are the last thing we can try before it’s time for armed revolution...or surrendering to slavery.

I think it is a little early to assess the impact on them of what happened yesterday.

I am going to go out on a limb here and guess the impact will be ZERO.

Clearly you are not the solution, but part of the problem.

But I remain VERY uncomfortable with Glen's -- I dunno quite what to call it -- populist utopianism?

Good grief people, he is doing something, what are we doing?

Our usual Complaining is not very effective.

Sounds good, but they’ll pass legislation anyway.

They don't actually pass legislation, they pass bill numbers, the actual legislation is written later, by God knows who.

No, it’s not related...the “there will be arrests” was related to the ACORN scandal.

According to fox, the people who made the tapes will be charged.

Snap out of it friend and quit the personal attacks. You sound like a democrat who must put down to stand tall in their own eyes.

The American people are sick of both parties. Got that?

I don't care what they say, but rather what they do. Which has not been much. Yes BUSH kept us safe on one front But let the wolves in on more than one other front.

I am so tired of dems vs repubs. If you can't see the big picture, then don't foolishly attack those that can.

We are fighting for America, all that she was and all that she can be. The enemy is Marxist Communism and its greatest friend is apathy. The RINO’s that make up the bulk of the repubs are pathetic. Are you the only person who does not see this. Where the hell are they?

I apologize for inciting you to such rage. Are you man enough to apologize for your name calling?

>I don’t give a dang if he has ADD. He has accomlished more than all of us sitting on our butts at our computers.

Did I ever doubt/degrade that? No.

>Thank you for your service in Iraq, but don’t use that as an excuse to bring down Beck.

I didn’t bring him down, at all, if you think different I invite you to re-read my previous post.

>These are two different situations.

I never said, nor implied, that they were. I made the observation that the bipolar (those prone to depression also, which has some commonalities w/ bipolar) people I know are more sensitive to things that disturb them than “normal” people; that is an entirely subjective viewpoint, however it makes sense to me that if one knows about one’s own bipolar (or depressive) nature then they are more apt to be introspective/aware of how things impact them.

So, I would ask you to explain HOW is that “an excuse to bring down Beck”? (IE Why do you perceive that?)
