EDITORIAL: Baucus bill would destroy private health insurance--Increased regulations undermine..
The Washington Times ^ | September 13, 2009 | Editorial

Some breathed a sigh of relief that a new health care bill introduced by Sen. Max Baucus does not include government insurance. This solace is premature. The Montana Democrat's bill proposes new regulations that would doom the private insurance industry.

The lion's share of President Obama's Wednesday address to Congress pushed Mr. Baucus' plan. Because a direct government takeover of health care sparked violent public protests, the new strategy is to take smaller bites out of private care. The president still promises more service for less cost with greater government involvement, which is impossible.

It takes chutzpah for Democrats to claim that a bill that taxes health insurance will encourage more people to get private insurance. The claim that new taxes -- or "fees" as the bill calls them -- will not increase costs makes no sense. Democrats may pretend they can get tax revenue without raising prices, but any increased cost caused by taxation would be passed on to the consumer.

According to the Baucus bill, any insurance plan that caps benefits would be prohibited. It doesn't matter if the cap is $1 million or $10 million. There's no way to avoid greater costs with such mandated expansiveness of coverage. The same rule applies to any ban on higher fees for pre-existing conditions, a prohibition that is in every Democratic health care plan.

If you think the Van Jones/Cass Sunstein/Bill Ayers contingent is “radical”, you need to read some of the tax ideas coming out of Baucus. If it were up to him, not a single fart would go untaxed.

Just watched a segment on Fox - Greg Jarrett interviewing two US congressmen one Dem, one Rep. opposed to the bill.

The subject of Health Insurance Co-ops came up. If any of these bozos had a clue - most Life & Health insurance companies were founded as MUTUAL COMPANIES....which assets were in fact, owned by their policy holders. Aetna being the first. So we are coming full circle, except that the Federal Government will control premiums, payments and all contract language and the employees will be just another million or so Federal workers. Guess who’ll have to pick up the cost of fraud and incompetence????

How did Montana elect this radical? I don’t hear much about them complaining about his policies.

Yep, and any bill they pass will have to be that way for Zer0 to keep his promise about not adding to the deficit, of course he could care less about keeping any promise. Any and all bills have to be killed.

If it happens we’ll see bureaucratic incompetence skyrocket to a new level at the cost of our health.

That’s exactly what they are trying to do. Once they’ve destroyed the existing system, it will be easy to implement their totalitarian utopia.

Power over peoples’ lives is what drives these Marxists. I have to believe that - in addition to craving power and privilege, like dictators, they are likely obsessive compulsives. “A place for every citizen and every citizen in its place”

They want nothing short of being in total charge of our treasure, our lives and our children’s lives, which means we have to be divided up, programmed, dominated and crushed......human beings living freely are so untidy dontcha know?

First it was banking, then finance and the auto industry. Next is retail medical services. To follow are pharmaceuticals, med schools, . . . our very lives.
