Facebook website used to drum up Auburn rioters

A RIOT by Muslim youths in Auburn last week was organised via Facebook, police believe.

The troublemakers used the social networking site to flash up inflammatory references to police and rally their friends for a confrontation.

One update identified police as "non-believers" who were raiding a "brother's home". More than 150 people gathered in Cumberland Rd, Auburn, on Tuesday night, forcing police to call in 100 officers, the riot squad and a helicopter.

The tense stand-off came after Middle Eastern organised crime squad police raided four homes.

Opposition police spokesman Mike Gallacher's office revealed one of the Facebook updates read: "Kefeirs raiding brother's house, everyone get down hier (sic)!!"

A spokesman for Mr Gallacher said the term used to describe the police had become a slang Arabic term used to describe non-believers. Mr Gallacher said laws preventing the use of a mobile to call or text others to incite a riot failed to cover social networking sites such as Facebook.

Anyone can use the web, especially Facebook, to whip up social disorder and affray.

The Lebanese Muslims seem to be the biggest perpetrators of all, and along with their tenacity to riot in their Auburn ghetto.

Kind of overkill isn't it? What happened to "One riot = One Ranger?

Oh wait...

The ideal name to combat crime perpetrated by Lebanese Muslims in Oz, particularly Sydney.

Isn’t this a violation of Facebook’s Terms of Service?

They should have their accounts suspended!

They’d be charged for riot and affray, organizing it online.

This is not the Australia I know and love. This is going to come to a head one day, and we will take back out communities.

The Cronulla riot was a tiny glimpse of what happens when we, one of the most laid back and friendly people, are pushed too far. We don’t bark, but it’s a grave mistake to assume that it means we don’t bite.

We may not be anywhere as heavily armed as the US, but we are very creative in the face of adversity and unfair odds, just look at our military history (e.g. Kokoda, Anzac cove).

This is not over yet.

I know.

And there’ll be clashes that make Cronulla look puny by comparison.
