Of particular relevance to Texas is the serious lack of coverage among the Mexican-origin population. In 2007, while 16 percent of non-Hispanic whites were without coverage for all or part of the year, approximately 40 percent of Latinos in the state were uninsured.

Maybe I'm out of touch on the new lingo but, who are these Mexican-origin people? (according to this article)

Whom do they think are the people who get their primary health care from the Emergency Room? We always hear that there is a segment of the population without health insurance who get their care from the ER, but nobody names them.

And what does skin color or ethnic origin have to do with whether you choose to buy health insurance or not?

I personally know someone whose full time federal job is to run a multi-million dollar program to EXPAND EXISTING health care programs to Hispanics.

I may be wrong but it sounded to me a new, more kinder, way to call illegals “Mexican-Origin”.
Otherwise I’m a citizen of the USA altho I’m Sweden-English-Irish-Holland Origin! LOL
It looks to me this guy is looking for ways to get the illegals a free ride!
If they’re citizens of this country, I have no problems altho we don’t need the “Public Option” which is a mean of grabbing more money!
To: wolfcreek
The only ones overlooking these “hispanics” are themselves.
I went out, got a job with benefits, and I have insurance as a result.
I don’t look out of whites, blacks, hispanics or anybody else.
That’s their business, not mine.

Illegal immigrants No.
The article states that 40% of the Latinos in the state are without coverage and there is no evidence whatsoever that would indicate that 40% of the Latinos in Texas are illegal aliens.

If you are illegal or working in the black economy..then you aren’t covered and shouldn’t be. That is most of these people.

I’ve worked with a lot of Mexicans in my life, they choose not to buy any insurance. Health, Life, Auto...nada.
Then they bitch when they need coverage.

Yeah that is a good laugh. What is a Texan of mexican origin? Usually an Illegal.
Why should they pay for healthcare? All they have to do is go to an emergency room and walk away from any bill.
