I wouldn’t say that so much as that he’s doing the MSM’s job for it. And he wasn’t being a provocateur. This wasn’t street theater or a “love in”. It was a simple sting operation, like the sort investigative news teams use all the time.
Are sting operations a liberal thing? I guess when you see it on the news, it’s usually aimed at some private business. However, undercover operations and whistle-blowing are used by either side, in any case. Just because the libs started associating it with themselves at some point doesn’t mean they own it.
