It's good to see that we have some Dem Senators who care about this country's fiscal future. Obama has been trying to work the numbers on health care reform by delaying benefits until 2013 and collecting tax money right away. That makes the 10 year cost estimates lower, but it's a willful fraud on the American people. It sounds like Kent Conrad just called Obama on this BS stunt, and I for one thank him for it. Conrad is one of the only fiscal conservatives in the Democratic party.

I remember Kent being a major pain regarding the deficit when Bush was president, so if he shows to be one for TOTUS, he’ll be showing himself to be a true hawk.

I don’t think his solutions will be right—higher taxes—but at least he wants gubmint to spend less, maybe.

The Huffington Post caught up with Conrad and asked him whether this would kill the reform effort. "No," he replied, "but it makes it more challenging.

Translation: higher taxes.

My congressman, Paul Ryan R-Wis, has already said that the CBO scoring of HR3200 shows that costs skyrocket after 2019. I can’t imagine the CBO would score the Senate bill any differently. This will be the final nail in the coffing for THIS reform. But since we do need some reform, I hope they will begin to listen to conservatives. But I’m not counting on it!
