Sotomayor Advised Critics Of Judge Bork - Group Also Helped ACORN!
WashTimes ^ | Tom LoBianco

A legal advocacy group advised by Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor in the 1980s actively opposed conservative Robert H. Bork's nomination to the high court calling him a "threat" to the "civil rights of the Latino community."

The Senate went on to reject President Reagan's nominee in 1987.

The revelation is included in 350 pages of documents the Puerto Rican Legal Defense and Education Fund delivered to the senators late Tuesday evening.

Judge Sotomayor worked for PRLDEF in various capacities from 1980 until she became a federal judge in 1992, spending most of her time as a board member.

The documents, which the group's lawyers have said include relevant information about Judge Sotomayor's time there, also show the fund did legal work for the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, known as ACORN. During the 2008 presidential election, ACORN came under fire after allegations of voter registration fraud.

Now called LatinoJustice PRLDEF, the group also has supported legalized abortion and called the death penalty racist in previously released documents.

Back in 1987, Judge Bork's nomination to the court was so beaten back by Democratic senators, including then-Sen. Joseph R. Biden Jr. and Sen. Edward M. Kennedy, that being rejected for confirmation to the high court came to be referred to as being "borked."

The depth of Judge Sotomayor's work with the PRLDEF remains largely unclear. The PRLDEF frequently joins in lawsuits and files amicus briefs in the Supreme Court.

Embarassing that we let this HISPANO-RACIST Sotomayor on the court...while she may have had a hand in the witch-hunt of Robert Bork.

I don’t think it would have mattered if she had wanted to set up a brothel and staffed it with underage Guatemalan girls.

Oh, look, a complete circle...

Sotomayor defends ACORN, Obama came from ACORN, ACORN and SEIU help get him elected, he appoints Sotomayor to the SC, and now...

ACORN has the President's ear and a seat at the Supreme Court.

Fantastic.

If I’m not mistaken, the confirmation process was completed and Soto(everything for Latino’s)mayor is now a Supreme Court Justice. If that’s the case, then the only way to see her removed from the bench is . . . ???????? I don’t know if there’s anyway other than her retiring or dying (by natural causes of course - I’m not one to make any suggestions otherwise).

No justice has ever been removed through this process, and only one justice of the Supreme Court has ever been impeached.

In 1805 Justice Samuel Chase was impeached in the House by his political enemies, but the Senate failed to convict when it became apparent that Chase’s opponents were after him not because he had committed any wrongdoing but because they disagreed with his decisions.

The possibility of impeachment may have been a factor in the resignation of Justice Abe Fortas, who left the Court in 1969 after allegations surfaced that he had accepted a questionable fee from a private foundation.

Some conservative groups rallied for the removal of Chief Justice Earl Warren in the 1960s, but their efforts failed.

Has a Supreme Court Justice ever been impeached?(Ask.Com)

Sotomayor’s appointment is a clear example of the power grab of King Obama.

All Hail King Obama!

HA! I was just showing my kids the School House Rock videos of "No More King", about why we declared our independence, as well as "The Shot Heard Round the World", about the revolution against the British.

Seems to me it's a clear example of favors being repaid to ACORN and SEIU. And I am sure there are more to come from both Obama and Sotomayor.

I loved those breaks between cartoons -- still to this day, when I want to quote The Preamble for something, I sing to myself the melody, with her pauses and the way she ends with, "for-or the ... Yew-night-ted States uh-uh-of A-mer-i-ca!"

I like the one on how a bill becomes law, that poor, tired little guy on the Capitol steps. (Sorry, I know this is o/t, but these are good learning spots, your post brought it back to mind.)
