Another frickin’ ugly hybrid. Another thing, cameras break down, mirrors usually last forever and are easily replaced when they do break and you usually have two so if one goes you still have the other one.

. . . we could easily have 50MPG cars right now. . . .

VW came out with the 1.9 Liter TDI Passat in 1996. New it gets about 50mph, after about 300,000 miles it only gets about 45mph. I'm on my third one (people keep running in to me). It's nice going 800 miles before I have to fill up my 18 gal tank. The Passat is a roomy little car, will haul 5 people pretty well and 4 with a lot of extra room, I never have to worry about plugging it in. It cruises very well at 80mph at about 2600rpm.

CVT and a large 3 cylinder lugger diesel.

Better yet, a plain old diesel-electric...just like a railroad locomotive...but with batteries and electrically driven engine accessories(AC compressor, power steering, power brakes, etc) for instant-on-instant-off in stop-and-go traffic.

Yeah, I wanna be in one of those sharing the road with 88,000 pound grain trucks.

These sissies complaining about little cars being unsafe or unstable in wind are funny. I ride a motorcycle and all I can say is these little girls need to grow a pair(and I don’t mean breasts). I’ve done 50mph on a bicycle and 135 on a motorcycle and a 100mph in a rusty old VW beetle that you could see the pavement through the floor...one hand on the steering wheel and one hand on an ice scraper scraping my frozen exhaled breath off the inside of the windshield.

That will slide under a truck so smooth that emergency services won’t even know it’s there.

Good luck surviving even a fender bender. But then people aren’t important to these eco-freaks.

My goodness, why do so few conservatives these days trust the free market and personal choice? No, it's not a car for the masses, just like a Harley Davidson is an expression of personal taste. Both aren't as safe as a Mercedes E-Class, but both are cool in their own way (other carbon fiber cars cost $400.000 and up).
