The liberal political organizing group ACORN faced internal chaos and allegations of financial mismanagement and fraud long before two young conservatives embarrassed the group with undercover videos made at field offices in Washington and across the country.

I watched a good synopsis of the ACORN scandal on NBC News with Brian Williams on Wednesday evening. I was pleasantly surprised.

Wade Rathke could not be reached, but he told the New York Times last year that the organization counted the losses as a loan on financial records, rather than reporting it to police, because word of the embezzlement would have put a "weapon" in the hands of conservative enemies.

If federal funds were in fact embezzled by the Rathkes, then it is most assuredly NOT a "loan" but outright theft of taxpayer money. Hard time in jail should be in order.

....I wondered about that from the beginning...I figured that they had a lot of footage and would trickle it in a week at a time...that’s the best way to get traction on this scandal.

....and BTW the WaPo article was typical of a so called social justice outfit like ACORN....about 10 years ago the NAACP headquarters in Baltimore went thru the same malfeasence...they finally cleaned it up when the Ford Foundation and others with held grant money.
