Dozens of times a week now, we receive e-mailed letters very similar to the following, which arrived at the newspaper Wednesday, signed by one Mary White on Russell Road, Las Vegas:
"I am disappointed in the media and the RJ for not reporting on all the undercover journal reporting done on Acorn by ordinary citizens," Ms. White opines. "You guys are only interesting in making Obama president and turning our country into communists. I am look thru Sundays paper for any real news like what is reported on Fox News and Glenn Beck and am hugely disappointed. I cannot buy your paper anymore until you decide to really report news. Today, for your information since you are not paying attention, it is reported on Fox News that the senate is introducing legislation to ban all Federal dollars to acorn. Of course, we will not read this in the paper. Thought you might like to know. I may give you more updates in the future, just to keep you informed."
These letters usually receive only the briefest of polite replies. On this occasion, however, allow me to give Ms. White -- and, by proxy, the scores of additional correspondents who apparently churn out these missives as instructed by some disembodied voice on the radio without bothering to actually toddle down to the convenience store and glance through a copy of the newspaper -- a little m

I buy the local paper often. Scan the sports, do the crossword, cryptogram & word search, then toss it.
Oh, and coupons on Sundays.
Sounds like that comment was sent to the wrong paper!
The simpler and easier solution would be for you to first read the column.

Vin, I haven’t read a paper form of newspaper in years! When we painted our living room last year we had to scrounge around among the neighbors just to find some newspaper, and they did have much of it either!
Oh!...And our Wall Street Journal has been coming by way of Internet subscription for years now.
Some how all these news media outlets were sold the bill of goods that THEY will be the only chosen one to be the messenger of the administration word when the dictatorship evolves. Even they must know that won’t happen...or do they? Freedom of any press dies with a dictatorship.

Why would I want to read about news a day or three after it is already on Free Republic?
She's looking for the articles on Page One - "Above The Fold" and Vin responds with stuff like,
"it was right there on page 9A.
and...
"it's in section 7B, how could you miss it!"
and..
"It was all over our Editorial Pages, don't you read?
In effect he's defending his paper, for the same way the NY Times buries stuff they don't want anyone to see -- on page 9, sections 7 and/or 9.
It *ain't* Front Page 'above the fold' for everyone to easily see.
I think her point is valid.
You don't know Vin Suprynowicz. He is anything but lazy. He is a strong Libertarian who is very willing to speak the truth as he sees it. Check out his other editorials, and you will see that this is the case.
