Liberal talk-show hosts attack Baucus plan By Bob Cusack - 09/21/09 12:56 PM ET
Liberal media pundits in the media are lambasting the healthcare bill crafted by Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus (D-Mont.).
Bill Maher, host of HBOs Real Time with Bill Maher, said on his show this weekend that the Baucus healthcare reform measure is everything you would want in reform, you know, except for reform.
Rachel Maddow, the host of MSNBCs Rachel Maddow Show, has mocked Baucus for trying to appease Rep. Joe Wilson (R-S.C.) and other Republicans by putting in language in the bill that she says ensures that illegal immigrants cannot purchase health insurance.
She added, This is a totally brittle and criminally stupidly idea.
Keith Olbermann, host of MSNBCs Countdown with Keith Olbermann, last week called the Baucus bill, The Max tax.
He said insurance premiums for middle-class families will be deducted directly from their paychecks and that 13 percent off the top right to the insurance companies.
The Republicans reject it. The Democrats cant possibly survive by supporting it. The insurance companies? They love it This is the compromise? This is insane.
Meanwhile, Ed Schultz, the host of MSNBCs The Ed Schultz Show, warned his viewers not to get too comfortable with this Baucus plan. This is not the path to healthcare reform. This is the path to losing the middle class.
Many liberals have attacked Baucuss bill. Former Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean last week said it is the worst piece of healthcare legislation I've seen in 30 years.
Baucus has maintained that his bill is a balanced approach to overhauling the nations healthcare system and predicted it will attract bipartisan support.
The Hill has requested comment from Baucus's office to the criticism from the liberal talk-show hosts.
Why would any one care what Bill Maher thinks?
If the GOP is smart - the Senators and Congress people in the GOP should tell Dems of yeah that is a great idea on their proposals then ignore them. Push GOP proposals to Dems and press.
The Dems do not have the votes and Dems like hairy Reid are worried about losinbg in 2010 cause he poll numbers are terrible. The Dems do not have Dems onboard - priceless.
The RINOs better not help them.

To his credit, Baucus put forth a bill that addresses the serious questions (like how do you pay for it.)
It just points out that none of the other bills/proposals are serious. They are just proposing the candy now, and leaving the tough questions till later.

wow he now sounds like us!
Obama lies and Grannie dies.
If a liberal talk show host attacks something, but nobody hears it, did it really make a sound?
I was just cleaning up the yard from the dog leavings and I picked up more intelligent objects than Bill Maher, Rachel Maddow, Keith Olbermann, and Ed Schultz combined.
Oh Deer. What will Bambi do?
yeah there’s a very small market for libertarians who believe in socialized health care.
Is this the same tax that Obama denied was a tax, when George Stephanopoulos (thumbing through a dictionary) said it was? Is Olbermann calling Obama a liar?
the republicans at this point should veto any bill... I repeat.. ANY BILL that the democrats submit.
No healthcare bill this year. Next year is an election year, and nothing gets passed.
So you will have the first 750 days of this administration with no legislation.
are all these white guys on msnbc racists now?
“Brittle” ? Did she mean “brutal”, or has ‘brittle’ acquired some new slang connotation of which I’ve been mercifully unaware?
