The war in Afghanistan was popular until a Democrat president actually had to fight and win it. Then it became unpopular and not really all that significant. Interesting how that works.

Like wine turned to vinegar, the “good war” in Afghanistan has gone bad, creating a political minefield through which candidates will need to navigate carefully.


The first line of this piece is very telling. Obama is no longer a “candidate”—he is the POTUS. He needs to lose the candidate mindset, stop the soaring rhetoric, stop posturing & preening, and start figuring out how to win the war.
