Afghanistan's insurgency is clearly supported from Pak: McChrystal
The Nation, Pakistan ^

The U.S. military commander in Afghanistan says he has evidence that factions of Pakistani and Iranian spy services are supporting insurgent groups that carry out attacks on coalition troops. Taliban fighters in Afghanistan are being aided by "elements of some intelligence agencies," Army Gen. Stanley A. McChrystal wrote in a detailed analysis of the military situation delivered to the White House earlier this month. McChrystal went on to single out Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence agency as well as the Quds Force of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard as contributing to the external forces working to undermine U.S. interests and destabilize the government in Kabul.

Do we take the war to the enemy?

With this Administration, I think not.

Pity, we need an offensive game plan. Obama will not pursue one.

I’m glad he is putting this out in the open. Some of us knew this had been going on. Anyways it cuts short any attempt by Obama to spin things.

I sorta thought everyone knew this; the real question to be answered is to what extent are insurgent groups being supported from the White House?

Is anyone surprised that the ISI, the parent of the Taliban, is up to its neck in the troubles we are having in Afghanistan. It's not like the Pakistanis like us or anything. They are playing a delicate game in order to keep the money coming. Iran, on the other hand, will gladly help anyone who will kill Americans, as simple as that.

Just now, however, we don't have a government willing to protect us.

Well, Obama says he still wants to keep up the pressure on Al Quaida and Taliban leaders. Presumably this means more of the drone attacks.

You heard this here first. The muslims are not going to put up with this. They are not going to just accept casualties from a weapon they can not counter.

What they are going to do is a low-tech version of the same strategy. Send assassination squads after western targets.

The President is too hard a target? How about governors of big states, or even small ones? Senators, Representatives. There is a long list of potential targets and we can not provide high security for them all.

I think one of the things which has prevented this from happening already is pressure from our ground troops over there. Let up on that pressure, and they will start to counter the drones by bringing the war over here.

Obama's unwillingness to send more soldiers over there is going to bite us in the butt over here.

I think McChrystal is proving he's a man that won't let Obama micromanage the war - he's going public with what he
believes is right and I'm sure it infuriates Obama!!

Not sure what the answer is on what to do in Afghanistan, but I don't think it has as good a chance to evolve into
a democracy [middle-east-style] as does Iraq. So I think a new surge would be a problematic investment of good men.

Be interested in your take.

I’ll bet you anything the Russian mafia is funneling tons of supplies to the Taliban . I’ll bet many of the Russian mob members were former Soviet soldiers who got their asses handed to them by the US supplies the Muj used to have and this is payback to them . Not to mention the profits involved in the moslem hypocrite - blasphemers sales of poppy by product
