The one said you could keep your insurance if you like it. The SOS blew that one out the water months ago … Now we find the promise doesn’t even apply to folks who supplement benefits with private insurance on Medicare Advantage programs.

Apparently Medicare Advantage is being killed so that a similar AARP program can prosper.

I have a Medicare Advantage plan and I like it. Did Barry lie to me? Call Joe Wilson, he may be our only friend.

Biden just said that there will be no cuts to health care benefits. Joe knows. Doesn't he? Hello. Hello. Anybody? Anybody?

Me too. I have been very confused about what we are going to keep and not keep. Retired people have medicare, suppliment, and RX. Are they all going down the toilet?

"I have a Medicare Advantage plan and I like it"

So does your Medicare Advantage Plan Provider. Probably more than you like it.

Have a look at reply #9 on this thread where a freeper explains how Medicare funds the Advantage Plans.

The average enrollee costs Medicare $830 per month so the Plan gets $830 X 12 months for $9960.00. Plus, the Plan gets $91.00 of your $96.40 Medicare premium X 12 months for $1092.00.

Adding those two numbers up, your Plan provider is funded $11,052.00 per year.

The reformers say the Advantage Plan providers are being over funded for what they provide.

"Barry Lied?"

That I couldn't tell you, but, given a choice between an Advantage Plan and a Supplemental Policy, why would anyone chose a supplemental policy.

The difference in costs, to a recipient, between the two is so substantial, it seems fishy.

Even if it does seem fishy, or to good to be true, I intend to go with an Advantage plan. Do you think you, or I, would be grandfathered in to the advantage plan if they do away with them?

Medicare advantage plans are already starting to deny services. In the NW US, Noridian (a Medicare replacement plan) is denying coverage for spinal injections and spinal radio- frequency lesioning. These procedures have numerous well designed studies their supporting use and have been covered by Medicare and most private insurance companies for over 20 years. These procedures are highly effective in relieving pain from spinal arthritis. These procedures have enabled many people to avoid invasive spinal surgery and narcotic medications.

I sincerely hope that this is not a foretaste of Obamacare and the rape of modern medicine.

Ben, Read this post to get the real flavor of what BHO’s people think of our intellegence regarding the Medicare Advantage option: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2347128/posts

I can read that and point out the fallacy that I have already pointed out to you.

You can't compare basic medicare to medicare advantage unless you include medicare supplementals.

The article states what percent utilize medicare advantage but say nothing about what percentage utilize a supplemental policy.

While the problem with cost of the medicare subsidy to insurance companies providing advantage is what it is based on the percentage of medicare recipients using advantage(20%-25% according to your link), if and when 80% of medicare recipients are using advantage, it becomes unsustainable.

If it is covered by Medicare and not the Medicare Advantage plan, drop the advantage plan and go back to medicare.

I knew there was a reason that AARP had to be woo-ed before supporting obamacare.

Happy with my Advantage plan too and do NOT want to have to enroll in AARPs cobbled together mess.
