"BALTIMORE (AP) ― ACORN and two former employees of its Baltimore office filed a multimillion-dollar lawsuit Wednesday against the makers of a hidden-camera video that showed the employees giving tax advice to a man posing as a pimp and a woman posing as a prostitute.

The liberal activist group contends that the audio portion of the video was obtained illegally because Maryland law requires the consent of both parties to record private conversations.

"..... but the lawsuit, filed in Baltimore Circuit Court, involves only the Baltimore recording."

.....uh oh!....not good....Baltimore Circuit Court means black Dem jury pool...probably a black Dem judge...in short, it means jury nullification and O.J. justice.

Oh, goody! Discovery and O’Keefe and Giles, et al, demand all papers and records. Open you files, Acorn! This may get even better.

Good comparison. THis is like the East German DDR govt suing escapees for cutting through the border fence.

Normally yes, but it might not work that way in Baltimore, where entire graveyards vote ‘Rat.

Don’t expect an objective judge to rule on disocovery requests....at all.

It will be hard to defend this suit under the states wire tap law. Discovery will be limited (bet on it) to the matter at hand which will be did both parties agree to be taped. The best outcome would be an award of $1 to the scum.

This is nothing but pure harrassment IMO.

Acorn is probably trying to halt the release of the rest of the tapes.

I don't know why everyone thinks a judge would rule ACORN's books should be open to discovery. The issue does not involve the books. It involves whether or not O'Keefe and Giles violated Maryland's anti-wiretapping law. What's in the books has no bearing on that issue.

Is it possible for O’Keefe and Giles to request a change in venue?

Wonder if that means that Acorn is not a legal entity in MD and as such effectively doesn’t exist.

"This is nothing but pure harrassment IMO."

Actually Acorn is being very foolish in this lawsuit and working counter to their own interests.

First; it will prolong the life of this sordid story and the tapes are out there, they cannot be taken back.

Second; it will dramatize the corruption of the dim party once people get a look at the kangaroo Baltimore courts and will turn the two film makers into martyrs on the right.

Finally; Acorn may win a court battle and lose the war of public opinion once the people understand what a malevolent org Acorn is.

Did the ACORN reps tell anyone it was a *private* conversation?

The fact that ACORN has been all over the place with their statements (Including thanks) won’t help ACORN much.

They went to several other states also. But in this case, you cannot use the law to enforce a Civil case, when the very activity in question was itself, against the law prior to the filing.

They are trying to use this as a publicity stunt. The courts will throw this out and they know it.
