These are students who were in their dorm acting peacefully, bothering no one, and the police used tear gas on them.

Sorry, I watched the video, and it does not look like they trapped them and gassed them.
It looks like for a bit of time, they were not allowed to run up the stairs, because the police were up the stairs protecting the building from the rioters.
And the police were gassing the rioters in the street, and some of the gas drifted up to where they were standing on the stairs watching.
I didn’t see any tear gas cannisters fired up on the stairs.
I did see protestors picking up what looked like cannisters and throwing them, but even they didn’t look like they threw them onto the stairs.
And after a short time, the police did allow them to pass and head upstairs.
The problem with observing illegal activity, is that sometimes you might suffer the consequences. I suppose some think that if any innocent people are hanging around, the police should just lay down their weapons and let the anarchists have their way.
Po-lice arent bothering the tea partiers for fear that they will break out their pocket switch-forks.
Look, my feeling is modern universities are rip-offs. The lack of the adult supervision provided to the students who pay PLENTY for those dorm rooms is an indicator of the carelessness and lack of dedication to core duty that makes them traps for the innocent and rip-offs for nearly all.
Yes, that is why I blame the school, not the police.
these kids should be learning how to make a living so their parents wont have to take care of them, not exploring social justice for the next frakking ten years on dad’s dime.
these kids are only in college to put off having to find a damn job..
This is why I think that it is shocking that the university and their police did not have a plan for these disruptions. They know that this has happened before during this G20 conferences. What were they thinking. The campus police should have kept everyone off that pedestrian bridge and kept all students off the streets until the police got everything under control.
If you want to spectate at a riot, there is a damn good chance you might get caught up in the riot.
At the beginning it was quite obvious these kids were acting like this was a movie, something they could watch without getting involved. Smart people stay away from riots.
Damn, thanks for bringing back some fond memories. I'll never forget trying to repeat my general orders in that stuff.
Another thing that is ridiculous is that the students were not “trapped” at the top of the stairway. All you have to do is keep going across the quad and you’re at the street on the other side. Forbes and 5th Avenues are parallel to each other. This scene was on Forbes Ave.
Amen.
University of Pittsburgh has 34,000 students.
Locked down?
My son had four years of ROTC on that campus. It’s bigger than many cities. Not some place that could be locked down.
I guess the cops were too young to have heard about Jackson State.
Well then, since you are a mind reader, gas ‘em for supporting protestors just in case they do. It is a crime to support protests!
Trust fund babies at University of Pittsburgh?
Give me a break. How ludicrous.
The University warned all students to stay away from the demonstrations for this very reason.
They ignored the warning, got gassed, and now they are crying.
Boo-hoo. Too freakin’ bad. Maybe you’ll listen next time.
Not at all. However, these protesters are a bunch of anarchists, which to me means that they are a bunch of marxists. They can support them all they want, but realize that there are consequences, especially with this ilk.
How about, An unknown number of left wing rowdy, propety destroying left wing protesters versus 2 million peaceful right wing protesters. I think that sums it up a little better
They kids they attack who are in their dorm area watching - innocent - are kids who they will radicalize and bond with the Marxists.
In this video the cops don’t attack any students on the video. Watch it.
