My proposal is aimed at doing an end around on the teachers’ unions.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Please read post #29.

Doing an “end around” the teachers unions will NOT, NOT, NOT, NOT, fix the government schools!

Government schools **are** socialism. Government schools teach children to be comfortable ( just by attending) with taking money from their neighbor for a service their parents want for free. So?...If they can get free education from the voting mob why not everything else they want for free?

Government schools **are** socialism! Socialism can not be fixed.

Again...Please read post #29.

It's true that government schools were based on socialism, but it doesn't have to function that way. When I was a kid, our high school was in the top ten in the country because excellence was valued above all else. There was no "Aim for mediocrity". There was no nonsense about "feelings" or self-esteem, either. The students were tracked according to ability and interest, college prep, business, industrial arts.

In the late sixties, the union started gaining strength and resisting the drive for excellence, they annexed a neighboring school district with an older declining urban population, and the school district has never been the same.

Of course the monthly property taxes were higher than the mortgage on my parents' home, but it was the same for everyone.
