Bethea said federal officials tested the river and found the E. coli bacteria level was 42 times greater than the highest safe level.
There is no way you want to get in or even touch water [this dirty], Bethea said. Ive never seen the water so filthy. It was just filthy, and it didnt smell very good in some places.
The river tour also found massive shoreline damage, including collapsed banks and fallen trees.

The U.S. Park Service on Wednesday shut down use of portions of the Chattahoochee, citing the dumping of raw sewage from broken sewage lines in Roswell. Rangers threatened fines for anyone violating their order.

It's probably still cleaner than it was in the 70s.
Chattacoli.
Coli=hoochee.
Obama needs to stop God before he washes Atlanta into the Gulf.
Huh. Trees have been falling in rivers since Adam was a boy. I wonder how the tree huggers propose to stop that???
it gets hotter than a hoochie coochie.

Atlanta has been letting raw sewage go in since the 70’s. Maynard should have fixed it back then. He did not have the cahones!
Maynard will live forever in my driveway in the form of a green trash dumpster. He, as mayor of ATL, started the use of curbside dumpsters for each household. Actually a good idea. I still call my dumpster a “little maynard.”

I lived south of Atlanta in the 60s and early 70s and still remember the sludge that would float by when Atlanta basically dumped all their sewage into the Chattahoochee ... I am almost certain it’s cleaner today than it’s ever been, flooding aside.
Funny but that’s the NEXT thing on his To Do list. At the moment, he and Algore are busy working to halt all those dirty hydrocarbon spewing volcanos by air dropping huge concrete corks into their calderas.
They’ve already reduced those troublesome 55’ tides in the Bay of Fundy to a trickle by dropping a lifesize concrete replica of Gore’s backside into the entrance of the bay.
The Atlanta thing should be a slamdunk.
Not much for Country music....
But Alan Jackson a guitar and country music is close to heaven.

So if you jump off the Chattahoochee Bridge, the impact won’t kill you but the disease will?
No doubt the river is cleaner today.
You can't even light it on fire.
