I truly don’t understand the hatred of Wal-Mart among Freepers. Wal-Mart has done more for poor people of America and the world than ANY government program has ever done. And don’t Freepers SUPPORT free enterprise?
Perhaps it’s an “elitist” thing, with people thinking they are “too good” to shop at Wal-Mart. However, I know people with a six-figure-plus incomes who shop at Wal-Mart, so I’m not sure that elitism correlates with income. I think it just comes down to snobbery.
In rural and suburban America, Wal-Mart is a good place to shop, and has been for 25 years or more. If you support free enterprise, why hate on a company that has become successful giving the people what they want?
I agree with your excellent post.
If I avoided all the retail establishments that get trashed on FR, the only place I could shop would be the St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store.
