WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Republican Senator John McCain, a leading voice for reducing carbon emissions, said on Tuesday he will not support the climate change bill being introduced by Senate Democrats, illustrating the lack of bipartisan support for the bill.
Democratic Senators Barbara Boxer and John Kerry are expected on Wednesday to unveil their plan for cutting smokestack emissions and building vehicles that pollute less.
It calls for a 20 percent cut in U.S. carbon emissions from 2005 levels by 2020 and an 83 percent reduction by 2050, according to Senate Republican aides familiar with the Democratic bill.
But the legislation faces opposition from Republicans and some moderate Democrats, and competes with healthcare and financial reform on a crowded legislative agenda.
Asked whether he could support the Democrats' bill as now written, McCain, the Republican's unsuccessful candidate for president last year, replied: "Of course not. Never, never, never."

HEY, YOU DUMB MORONS.
We don't want more government!
Why don't you just try bringing down the whole bill instead of aiding and abetting the Democrats in expanding the size and scope of Government in a "bipartisan" fashion?

Drop dead would work, I guess.
Shovel ready. I cannot stand Juan McCain or his daughter. They sicken me.
You all might hate him, and that’s fine we’re still allowed our own opinions since Obama hasn’t taken them away yet, but McCain is an American hero who has sided more often with conservatives than he’ll ever get credit for. This is the right call to make and I suspect he’ll be the pointman in defeating climate change legislation in the senate. Only Nixon could go to China.
Send Juan McCain or other amnesty proponents to China. One way ticket on a slow boat.
Because, during this session, it is the only bill under consideration which will allow nuclear power plants to get approval?
Yes, “drop dead” works for me.
Color me unsurprised by this development.
1. The anthropogenic global warming theory is a crock!
2. CO2 is NOT a pollutant, but is rather an essential ingredient for life on this planet.
3. “Cap and Trade” is therefore nothing but an Washington elitist scheme to drain our pocketbooks. It is a non solution for a non problem.
4. Humanity has NO CONTROL over the climate.
MaCain and baby McCain were really full of their nasty selves when their guy first won the election and daddy lost.
When I think about how they acted to Palin and to conservatives, they were lashing out by blaming conservatives for McCain’s poor performance and loss. It’s not daddy’s fault, it’s those mean old evil conservatives who “don’t like sex” and who won’t be moderate socialists.
I disagree.
Human actions do in fact influence the surrounding environment.
However, the effect to which they do is greatly exaggerated by certain proponents of anthropogenic global warming as a means of scaring the general population.
Should people clean up after themselves? Yes.
But should people engage in the Socialist folly of cap-and-trade? No.
And should people accept draconian Government control of their lives in exchange for dubious benefits? HELL NO!
