The Obama administration Wednesday defended an Education Department official over advice he gave a gay student about sex 21 years ago.
The official, Kevin Jennings, says he should have handled the situation differently when he told the boy he hoped he had used a condom during a sexual encounter with an older man.
Jennings, who now heads the department's Office of Safe and Drug Free Schools, has been under fire from conservatives and right-wing groups for not reporting the incident to authorities or to the boy's parents.
In a statement Wednesday, Education Secretary Arne Duncan said Jennings has devoted his career to promoting school safety.
"He is uniquely qualified for his job, and I am honored to have him on our team," Duncan said.
Jennings was teaching high school in Concord, Mass., in 1988 when a sophomore boy confessed of an involvement with an older man in Boston.

My Church let people like this stay and the Church and protected them and horrible damage was done to the most vulnerable among us. Now it is an accepted position within our government.

I was listening to Quinn and Rose this morning. They were discussing Jennings’ involvement in FISTGATE. This was an event where a group he created (GLSEN)
“a tax subsidized activist group with a goal to promote a pro a gay agenda in schools. When Jennings was running the group they were involved in an incident dubbed Fistgate where members from the the Massachusetts Department of Education described the pleasures of homosexual sex acts to high school kids. The descriptions included the following”:
“Fisting [forcing one’s entire hand into another person’s rectum or vagina] often gets a bad rap….[It’s] an experience of letting somebody into your body that you want to be that close and intimate with…[and] to put you into an exploratory mode.”

toby, the problem with these radical czars IS NOT that they were not vetted. They were, and are where they are because 0 wanted them there. Do you really think ALL these crooks and crazy radical people would get next to the POTUS by some sort of an accident or not being vetted properly? REALLY?
