When a poll was posted to the popular social networking site Facebook asking if President Obama should be killed, the Secret Service launched an investigation.
Today they announced the results: Turns out a kid was behind the poll. And no criminal charges will be filed against him or his parents, according to the Associated Press, citing a Secret Service spokesman.
The poll, posted to the site over the weekend, asked, "should obama be killed?" The possible answers were "yes," "maybe," "if he cuts my health care" and "no."
At least 730 people took the user-generated poll before it was removed by Facebook. Results were not available because the third-party application used to post the poll was disabled.
Facebook said at the time that the person behind the poll had been banned from using the service.
Secret Service spokesman Edwin Donovan did not identify the child who posted the poll or release his or her age. He said agents had determined that he or she was not a threat to the president.
"Case closed," Donovan said, according to the AP. "I guess you could characterize it as a mistake."
In an email, Barry Schnitt, Facebook Director of Policy Communications, said, "we commend the Secret Service on their quick and thorough action and have complete confidence in whatever conclusion they have reached as a result."
The Secret Service really ought to check out the people who voted “Yes” or “Maybe” or “If he cuts my health care”. Presumably there were some adults among them.
I think one of the big differences between us and the left is that were Obama threatened, and one of us was in a position to stop it, I’m sure that 99% of us would, even at great personal risk.
If Bush were threatened, the lefties would help the criminals.
how old was the ‘child’? Some statistics categorize a child from 1 to age 25 years old.
didn’t we have a kid hacking Palin’s email. Most kids are apolitical, maybe some one is kidding us here.
You be hearing about the evil right wingers poll for years
I detect definite disappointment from CBS.
"Quel dommage," as Sarkozy, the new leader of the free world (by reason of default) might say.
How convenient that the “perp” is a minor. Now the USSS is obliged to not provide a name or other identifying information on the “perp.”
This assumes that there actually was a “perp.” What if the USSS discovered that it actually was a Obama operative behind this? Claiming that it was a minor is a convenient way to cover up that this was a “False Flag” operation, with the law providing an air-tight lid on the conspiracy.
Will any media or 3rd party press the USSS to provide even obscured details on who the “perp” was? Not likely.
Meanwhile Zero had effectively smeared those who oppose socialist healthcare legislation. Sol Alinski is smiling in hell.
That idiot Freidman had a column at the NYT blasting the Right for this Facebook junk. I enrolled just to post this news about the “kid(?)”, and they closed the comments down before I could!
Even though it is now almost certain that that census worker was killed by pot-growers or meth-cookers, who were very likely illegal aliens, will we have a retraction from bloviators who blamed “right-wing hate-radio?” We all know the answer to that one.
I am. However, I suspect if the results favored 0bama, they would have been revealed.
Just as...if the poster and his/her parents were conservatives, their party affiliation would have been revealed immediately...as has been posted previously.
So how did the vote total up?
It was actually someone important doing a push poll and they are dismissing it as a “kid” thing.
Fishy and too simple of an explanation.
Failure to launch
“didnt we have a kid hacking Palins email”
That “kid” was the legally mentally-ill 19-yr. old son of a Democrat Tenn. State Senator.
The PERFECT recruit for Obama’s National Civilian Security Corps!
He probably had to read the 400 page book over the summer.
Yes. And you had adults lynching Palin in Effigy last Halloween.
That would be a mindbender, since most left wing idiots and "children" are redundancies.
So I guess there are some questions that you just aren’t allowed to ask?
Poor kid, banned forever from facebook.
I wonder if the kid had violated their age restriction to begin with?
Seriously though, what law would it break to ask a poll question? It didn’t break the law to make a movie about killing President Bush, and it didn’t break the law for people to carry signs saying that we’d be better off if Bush was dead.
So what law says you can’t ask whether a President should be killed?
Most of them look Muslim. Ack...
