Jennifer Rubin - 10.02.2009 - 12:04 PM Obama received a nasty rebuff and a stern reminder that the rest of the world doesn’t necessarily care what he thinks. Chicago is out of the Olympics bidding process–in the first round. Why did Obama invest so much personal capital and time for this?

How much of his own money and time did he spend? Who’s money and also we’re paying his salary ....and then he goes and blames America for not getting the Chicago games ...

“How much of his own money and time did he spend?”

His name says it all: Zero.

The Democratic Party must be privately suffering a heavy case of buyer’s remorse this week. Obama appears to have torpedoed all of their major initiatives by focusing all of his efforts on this Olympic Committee charm offensive. By failing in this minor pursuit he reveals he’s not up to the task of advancing larger projects. Also reveals the damage that his Administration has done in the International Community by tarnishing our relationships abroad. It will take decades to undo the damage. Cash for clunkers indeed.

Why did Obama invest so much personal capital and time for this?

Because he has no experience at running anything; not a small office, small business, and certainly not a superpower nation. The man looks for anything to give him a chance to show he can do "something".

Bambi’s, Michelle’s, Ax’s and Rahm’s biggest problem is that their political opponents (and many of their political “allies”) don’t fear them.

Let’s see, some people went on a joy ride down the Hudson on Air Force 1 (who was on the plane?), Bambi and Michelle had a very public and very media coordianted “date night” in NYC, and now they take a vital-to-our-national-security trip to Copenhagen to rub elbows with the Queen of Denmark and IOC officials. A trip apparently so important that it trumped having to deal with a failed Afghanistan War strategy, a dangerous and out of control Iran, skyrocketing unemployment, a still contracting industrial base, a record 1 million plus consumer bankruptcies (and rising), 7 million additional homes soon to go into foreclosure and new calls on Capitol Hill for a second stimulus. I wonder how much these three trips cost since there wasn’t a rational or practical reason for any of them. (partial sarcasm alert)

And as my grandad says - what really “jacks my jowls” is him blaming America for loosing the bid ... and thinking back, how many Olympics have we hosted??? I don’t think the Olympic committee has forgotten the winter one in Utah with all that corruption ...

This is one of the best columns I've read regarding the Obamas' Olympic failure.

You said it.
I love the last paragraph:

Obama didn’t get the Olympics. He did get a slap in the face. Maybe he will learn something about multilateral institutions. At the very least, he may want to consider finding some advisers who will tell him to stop doing such silly things.

All may not be lost for Hussein.

The Heritage Foundation maintains that the stealthy Obamacare-as-an-amendment scheme is on track to pass both houses and be on Obama’s desk for signature by the end of next week, with no need for Senate “reconciliation.”

The public will be outraged if and when it goes through but the Blue Dogs and “moderate” Senate Dems are far more concerned with pressure from lobbyists and party leadership than they are with the people.

Bare minimum-he needs to stop bringing her into anything. She’s not a likable person. At all. Except to the moonbats on the left.

I checked DU after Chicago lost the bid. Even many of them said that Chicago was too corrupt to get the nomination.

Come on and cut the bozo some slack. He's new to the job and just learning the ropes.

The failure to get the Olympic games is hardly of major import. However, the failure is symptomatic of this administration's ineptitude. The next mess will be Afghanistan, the economy will start into even greater decline and corruption will increase beyond bounds.

I think that it is time to start considering a petition addressed to the occupant of the White House and to congress respectfully requesting that he resign the presidency for the good of the country. It is not quite time to actually start circulating such a petition; but, it is time to start debating such action.
