Though with patience He stands waiting, with exactness all He grinds.”

EXACTLY ! Even if many states gloss over the requirement and dismiss complaints one after the other ... many hundreds of complainants in dozens of other states will file legal complaints by the thousands...

Why thousands? Because after many summary dismissals - the complainants will re-file reformed complaints again, again and again... (at least we hope so).

The sheer factor of numbers will wear down the resistance to the point of ACTUALLY listening to the legal complaints.

A man of character...

That two enormous assumptions.

Blackstone? Gimme a break. Anyone who has researched this KNOWS that our founding fathers relied upon Vattel’s Law of Nations.

God bless Americans who still have a reverence for wisdom. What used to be called common sense isn’t so common anymore.

"You may now consider me extremely impressed."

You disagree with my posting. Arguing why you disagree and backing it up with facts would be much more "impressive".

I say, that, in order to be of the country, it is necessary that a person be born of a father who is a citizen; for, if he is born there of a foreigner, it will be only the place of his birth, and not his country.”

Sounds like he's talking about Obama, doesn't he? Not as to the circumstances of his birth, but as to his loyalties.

“A man of character would just produce the birth certificate.”

A man of character wouldn’t continuously lie to those he leads in hopes that he could carry them over the cliff like lemmings while escaping by Air Farce -0-.

A man of character wouldn’t show contempt for the country that allowed him to be anything he desired, even leader of the free world.

A man of character would not have wholeheartedly supported Wright or idolized and revered the likes of Ayers. He wouldn’t have rallied in support of the thug Raila Odinga.

A man of character wouldn’t have misrepresented the Word of God and made those who believe it out to be fools.

A man of character wouldn’t trample on the Constitution with every word he utters and he wouldn’t fight for the right to kill the elderly or brutally murder babies born alive or to tear them apart in the womb.

But we are not dealing with a man of character. We are dealing with Barack Hussein Obama.

“A man of character would just produce the birth certificate “

Ok, so you have managed to show that Obama is an arrogant egomaniac who spurns conservative requests.

Funny, but you didn’t need a lawsuit to figure that out.

“If no one can, or is willing to force him, then he doesn’t have to. The law matters when it can be enforced. If it can’t be, then one is just pi**ing into the wind.”

That is a good way of putting it.

“The Republican members of Congress could probably engineer a shutdown of Congress, leading to a Constitutional showdown/crisis. They are unwilling do to that.”

As a minority, they cant even stop quorum. The only hope of removing Obama is through impeachment and that will never ever happen.

“The real question one should be asking, is why are nearly all Republicans unwilling to address this issue.”
- Because Obama really was born in Honolulu and there is no evidence otherwise, so there’s not much of an issue to raise.
- Because if you are born in the US, the Supreme Court will invariably - should they be forced to rule - say that anyone born in the USA is a ‘natural born citizen’.

Ergo, there is no endgame that gets Obama out of office.

“But the issue was never joined before the election because of his race. “

Not true. The question came up in June 2008, which is why Obama campaign released the COLB on the internet. For most people, the COLB sufficed to ‘prove’ he was born in Honolulu, so it has remained below the radar because, aside from these lawsuits, the common view is being born in the US suffices to be eligible to be President.

“the reality does seem more dire now”

Reality IS more dire. Obama will do nothing like engineer a ‘crisis’, there will be NO “Marshall law”, he will merely preside over the weakest jobs performance in a generation while expanding the role of Govt more than any president since FDR.

And because the right discredits itself with conspiracy theories (like these bogus claims that he is not eligible to be President), intra-party division and anti-GOP disgruntlement, we will be ineffective opponents.

“6. In response, Obama, in most states, will have to present his 1961 Hawaii long form birth certificate.”

Why wont his COLB suffice? There’s no law that requires ‘long form’ BC or *any* form, actually.

Your point about ballot eligibility is well-taken, in that it is typically done before the election, not after. So 2012 elections is another bite at the apple.

Even if we were to assume to COLB is real, “Date Filed” is not equivalent to “Date Accepted”.

My gut feeling is that Obama will try to engineer a "crisis" to institute Marshall Law

While nothing would suprise me. I'd think he would use the crisis to institute "martial" law.

Born in Panama, McCain had his own Natural Born Citizen "issue"

Actually he may not have. Vattel's "Law of Nations" makes an exception to the "in the country" for those born to two citizens, but outside the country, when they are born "in the service of the country", The section title is somethign about "in the armies of the country", and compares the case of those serving outside a country in the "armies" to that of diplomats, who are also serving the country, but temporarily outside of it. IIRC, the "Natural born citizen" definition is in section 212 of book I, while the "in the armies" section is 217.

John never denied that he was born in the Panama Canal area. So the question about his birth place and being elgible

He maintained he was born on the naval base at Coco Solo, apparently the Birth certificate he showed the Senate committee, as opposed to the ones floating around the 'net, confirmed that. Not in Colon, not even off a US military reservation in the Canal Zone. His father, was serving the country as XO of a submarine (wonder if it was an S type or something even older?) operating out of the base. Probably defending the Canal itself.

"Law of Nations" has an exemption of sorts for those born "in the armies" of the country. Section 217, just 5 short sections down from the "citizen parents and born in the country" definition in section 212.

And because the right discredits itself with conspiracy theories (like these bogus claims that he is not eligible to be President)

Then why doesn't he crush the Republicans by presenting his Long Form BC to the country?

His poll numbers are tanking while Republican poll numbers are rising steadily. It would be just the thing to engender trust in him and cast him as a victim and would certainly help him pass his precious Obamacare that his presidency really hinges on.

I'm sure he could easily smear Republicans as crazed conspiracy theorists by numerous associations thereby increasing his political capital.

But he hasn't. Why not?!

I think it's important to learn whether we live in an actual Constitutional Republic anymore and whether we're going to follow the Constitution on such a vital issue that for the Potus would be so simple and easy to resolve.
