IAEA to inspect Iran's Qom site Oct. 25

TEHRAN (Reuters) - U.N. experts will inspect Iran's newly disclosed uranium enrichment plant on Oct. 25, the IAEA nuclear agency chief said on Sunday, praising a shift "from conspiracy to cooperation" between Tehran and the West.

The underground nuclear fuel facility near the holy Shi'ite city of Qom had been kept secret until Iran disclosed its existence last month, setting off an international furore.

Iran agreed with six world powers -- the United States, Russia, China, Britain, France and Germany -- in Geneva on Thursday to allow IAEA inspectors unfettered access to the site.

"IAEA inspectors will visit Iran's new enrichment facility, under construction in Qom, on 25th of October," International Atomic Energy Agency head Mohammed ElBaradei told a joint news conference with Iran's nuclear chief Ali Akbar Salehi.

"It is important for us to have comprehensive cooperation over the Qom site ... It is important for us to send our inspectors to assure ourselves that this facility is for peaceful purposes."

The West suspects the Islamic state is covertly seeking to develop nuclear weapons. Iran denies it.

U.S. National Security adviser James Jones said Iran did not appear to be closer to having a nuclear weapon. The New York Times said on Saturday that an IAEA report had concluded Iran has sufficient information to produce a bomb.

This would be an ideal opportunity for the Israeli Mossad to send a 007-type agent of their own among the IAEA inspection team and sabotage the Qom nuke facility, gunning down the scientists and destroying the nuclear centrifuges.

Nice of them to give them a 3 week warning so they can hide everything like last time.

I’d prefer the 509th Bomber Wing.

Of course, under the provisions of the nonproliferation treaty, the IAEA has the authority to inspect the site RIGHT NOW.

But Commander Zero stepped in and "negotiated" this right away. (Giving the Iranians loads of time to cleanse the sight, and btw changing the subject from ongoing enrichment of uranium at ACTIVE sites, which now is no longer even under discussion.) And this the MSM declares a triumph of Obama diplomacy.

In the meantime... The Iranians will be trying to hide the evidence. The whole inspection is a sham.

It has to be the 25th because the site is very dirty and it needs to be cleaned, they also need to get some refreshments for the inspectors.

Ditto...

what a joke!

How many months did we give Saddam to transport the WMD’s and hide them in Syria?

Sheesh!

Oh this will be good.

Let’s all try to act surprised when they tell us they don’t find anything. :)

But the Mossad will pursue the incriminating evidence, so that it gives the IDF/AF a built-in casus belli to bomb the Qom nuke facility, plus the other Iranian nuke facilities.

Giving the Iranians ample time to conceal the incriminating evidence from the IAEA inspection team, but not from the 007, Israeli style.

I see this as a way for Iran to stall off Israel from an October attack.

Once again the UN, negotiated by the Kenyan, will fiddle around, find nothing, and stall.

Its like deja vu all over again.

The whole game is to get in Israels way.

I still marvel how some idiots in this country would want to elect some stranger with the name Hussein, and then trust a stranger named Mohammed Al Baredi.

America needs to get a real President. This poseur is unacceptable.
