What’s the end point of neo-conservative nation building?

To make the world safe for left liberalism and the bankers that fund it.

IOW build their nation for them....and, btw, let’s pretend it was once “built” by calling it “reconstruction”........”peace and against war”?......snide reference to those new McChrystal ROE’s and nearts-and-minds (been there, done that) strategy?

nah....Bring ‘em Home!

Why are we building their nation for them, at our expense?

“Perhaps the First Lady Michelle should get off her butt...”

She can’t. But she WOULD look better in a burqua.

They are basically trust fund hippies and hypocritical feminists who are out of their element when a democrat is in the whitehouse.

They will continuely bash conservatives because we dare to promote a culture of life, instead of promoting abortion on demand and culture of grievance mongering. But they utterly expose their hypocrisy when they go dead silent on the treatment of women and children in any other countries, especially like Saudi Arabia where by law, women have less rights than the livestock. Then they try to justify their hypocritical silence by saying, “Well why should we push our standards on other countries?”
BUSTED!!!!!

Look at Code Pinko now. Predictably in total paralysis over what stand to take on Afganistan now that their metrosexual liberal hero is calling the shots in the whitehouse.
These morons, including that phony hypocrite, Ashley Judd, should go spend a day in Saudia Arabia. Just 24 hours of living under the same treatment the females of that country do before they shoot their mouths off about how bad they have it in the US.

“Perhaps the First Lady Michelle should get off her butt and visit the women of Afghanistan!”

Barrack Hussein could easily get two goats and a bag of dates for her sorry @ss. A MUCH better deal than he has right now. Heck, he could throw his mother-in-law in for free! ;)

"This is all such a no-brainer. "

That's not good news. There seems to be an ample supply of "no-brainers" in Washington right now.

I’m as surprised an anyone. The underlying factor is that they actually went to Afghanistan and talked to the people instead of relying on the state run media for their information.

The other posters are right. Now that there is a liberal (and not just a liberal, a BLACK MAN) in the White House the war is suddenly cool.

"I think it’s far from a no-brainer. We’ve been there for 8 years and the place is a mess. Oh, yeah, by the way - we’re broke. Every dollar we spend there is borrowed."

We've been there for 8 years holding ground since our initial invasion because we were a little busy in Iraq...it's not as if Afganistan has occupied the entire attention of the U.S. military for 8 years and has proven to be an implacable problem. "The government we’ve supported is at best ineffective and at worst hopelessly corrupt. The Constitution that we helped them adopt states that Afghanistan is a “Islamic Nation” or some such. Are we to be in the business of helping Islamic nations be successful? Why?"

We've supported plenty of corrupt and ineffective governmets over the years because the alternatives have always been worse. Practically the whole of the Cold War is a series of such choices. I'm not bothered by them at all - you always are faced with choices. As for it being an Islamic nation, we certainly cannot have expected anything else.

"Do you really believe that the small population of Afghanistan is a threat to us? Why? How?"

Not to be flip, but you were alive during September 11, 2001 correct? "At what point will we have done enough to make Afghanistan like Omaha? $400 billion? $1 Trillion? 1000 more dead?"

We're not trying to make Afghanistan like Omaha, we're trying to prevent Afghanistan from reverting to a terrorist state as before. "Colin Powell said: “You break it, you own it”. Everyone treats that as Gospel. This in itself is a classic neo-conservative formulation."

Then he resigned. "How about just breaking things, and walking away. “Sorry, you really pissed us off with your support of the Taliban. We are done, for now, blowing the shit out of your crappy little dung heap of a country. But rest assured, our drones are above you, our sattelites are intercepting your calls, our computuers are crunching your conversations. Act good or we will be back and kill a lot more of you."

This is not the American sytle of warfare. It wasn't when we pummled Germany into the stoneage or Japan to smitherines...unlike any nation before us, we wisely lift our former foes back up, and replace the tyranny they have known with the liberty that we provide - only then can you assure a lasting peace.

"PS: We won’t bother sorting out who’s who in the future. You have been warned, act accordingly. Are we to go teach each and every Afghan that they must follow the Miranda rules? What’s the end point of neo-conservative nation building? What Islamic nation has been successfully turned into a tolerant multi-cultural, diversity respecting, non-corrupt functioning democracy - much less a vibrant free market utopia." NONE.

But then your standard is an absurd one. No one is trying to build a utopia. Simply replace a nation that in fact posed an offensive threat the the United States and existed under a tyrannical dictatorship with a non-threating one that relies on greater human liberty and self-determination as a counterbalance to despotism and the war which it engenders.

"I say pull out. If you need to inflict more punnishment pull out ground troops and bomb. Enough of losing our finest in this dusty hell hole. We need our brave boys back in the USA to fight the libtards""

Have you considered what 'pulling out' would mean? Do your remember or have you seen the shots of helicopters lifting of the U.S. embassry in Saigon? Everyone who has counted on us - from the little girl who now gets to go to school to the Afghan soldiers who've put their lives on the line will be massacred. America will lose another war, and our failure will most assuredly cause the forces of darkness to oppose and test our reslove elsewhere. Everyone who naturally sees America as a counterbalance to their designs on power - from Iran, to Russia, to China, to Venezuela to Pakistan and everywhere in between will have new resolve to challenge us. From Afghanistan will rise a new and victorious Taliban, one strengthened by a resurgent Iran who may be interested in protecting its flank and ensuring the continuity of Islamic governance through the extension of a nuclear umbrella. The very worst kind of Islamic extremism will arise, and will have real power, and emerging from hiding will be a triumphant Usama bin Laden, who will justifiably claim a devestating defeat of the United States and NATO. This is a future far too horrible to contemplate.

We have been feeling a sense of fear of the people of the return of the Taliban. So many people are saying that, 'If the US troops left the country, would collapse. We'd go into civil war.' A palpable sense of fear that is making us start to reconsider that."

Maybe you could have saved yourselves a trip, Medea, if you had consulted with any number of conservative sources or read a history book or two to get the same information. Actually, you could have asked your little friend, Jane, about how that works.

People need to bookmark both this post and the CSM article in order to reference this down the road. Code Pink went through a lot of money and trouble to find out what everyone else knew about the Taliban. They are lucky. Many useful idiots didn’t live through learning a lesson the hard way. Do I think they will recant. Sure they will but this can be referenced for years to come.
