Never been on a site with an ‘ignore’ button, how does that work?

I know of one site that uses flags. You don’t get the flag button until you have been there for a certain time and have a certain amount of posts. If someone posts, people can flag it. It automatically deletes the post or sends it to the mods to review. It is far superior to mods. It uses the posters to alert the mods. You can set the flag at any number you want. For instance, say it is set to 25 flags. If 25 different people flag a post, you can be fairly certain, the post deserved to be flagged.
It helps get rid of offensive posts that may end up sitting there if nobody sees them or reports them. I personally like the flag button. It’s fast and it works. The mods on the forum love it. It makes their job a hell of a lot easier.
I couldn’t care less if FR chooses not to have things like that. I personally think it makes it easier to manage forums and requires less work for the mods.

It’s an interesting idea but would not work on FR, the forum is too large. We have too many posters with large followings and large ping lists. It would make it very easy for large cliques to censor anyone that their group doesn’t want on FR.
It would cause more work for us, not less.
