It's difficult to understand why the beverages we and others provide are being targeted as the primary cause of weight gain when 94.5% of caloric intake comes from other foods and beverages
I don't support a soda tax, but those are also theemptiest, least nutritive calories in the diet.

I don’t know, for kids maybe, but I have seen some pretty impressive beerguts bellying up to the local bars around here.
How soon until they demand we only drink light beer?

I’d argue that juices are worse for kids than soda because juice is “healthy” and, therefore, is served to kids much too often. juice is packed with calories and its sugar goes right to the bloodstream, triggering a spike in blood sugar levels and spurring a craving for more calories. Kids are ingesting massive numbers of calories from those juice boxes.

Sometimes I enjoy an iced tea with sugar and a lick of lemon on a hot day. Not much nutrition, but isn’t it nice to have a simple enjoyment?
It is a given that government has taxed live’s pleasures throughout histoy. Many times they ignore science and use pure politics as an excuse to tax. One thing they ignore in this process is the fact that they kill innovation and the economy. They may cause the obesity to go down when they have created conditions for starvation and poverty.
