I'm absolutely speechless! I know the Nobel Peace Prize has long since become a joke - Yassir Arafat? - but this goes beyond irony and into absurdity.

In 67 AD the Roman Emporer Nero won the Gold Medal (actually laurel leaves) in the Olympics for that year in the chariot race even though he fell out of his chariot and didn’t finish. The judges awarded him first place anyway by saying that “had he finished he would have won.” 1,942 years later the Nobel Committee awards the Nobel Peace Prize to Obama even thought he hasn’t done anything because if he had done something it would have been significant.
