INDIANAPOLIS -- The mother of a 7-year-old boy with autism and a severe peanut allergy has filed a lawsuit claiming a teacher tossed her son a peanut-filled Mr. Goodbar candy bar in hopes of sickening him and keeping him from going on a zoo field trip.
The boy didn't eat the candy bar, but Anita Young said her son suffered physical and emotional abuse at the hands of his teacher, and filed a lawsuit in Marion County against her son's Indianapolis school.
Young also wants criminal charges filed against teacher Trinda Barocas.

The hot sauce sauce story yesterday was at least understandable, to stop the kid from taking the soda off the teachers desk. If she really said this to the aid then she needs to be charged with assault to commit great bodily harm. Heck if he bit it it could have been manslaughter, my wife's friend has a daughter that just rubbing the shells of nuts on her skin can put her in shock.
Homeschooling is starting to look better and better, thank the lord my local rural school system is ran so different than most of the stories posted here.
Yesterday it was only hot sauce for the autistic child, today the ante was upped here in Indianapolis.
Badly written title, I thought a mom gave her own son peanuts.
Homeschooling works well, we teamed up with another family and did that for several years then the boys went back “mainstream” (a misnomer for sure). The other family’s son was Valedictorian of the senior class because, of course, of his superior grades and not only that, he was very active in other events including sports, so was our son, just not the academic whiz.
But then again, our son went on to serve his country (and an Eagle Scout) for 11 years (still serving), fought 2 1/2 yrs. in Iraq, combat veteran, NCO recognized combat leader by his CO. BTW, they were well “socialized”, that is a lie and a myth foisted by the Left and the Teacher’s unions, what is socialization? Pulling off purse snatching and car thefts with the thugs in today’s schools?
There are some excellent curriculum out there but keep in mind that anyone that does homeschool will be up against a horrendous social assault by other parents, teachers and the “system”, ya gotta have a thick skin.
I didn’t like the title either, but woe be unto you if you change it to make sense.
I have not seen of had any problems with our local schools here, we are in a very conservative small town though. All three of my kids went to “weekday” here while in grade school, they walked them across the street to a church and had a non-denominational bible study every Thursday. I have had to straiten them out on some of the global warming crap that a teacher was pushing, I sat them down and gave them a better picture of the truth than the teacher did, but other than that I am very pleased with our schools here.

Peanut allergies are the most fatal that I can think of. This teacher should be charged with attempted murder!..............
But the most jarring account is from early in the 2008-09 school year -- on the day of the field trip to the Indianapolis Zoo.
Teacher's aide David "Bo" Holder told investigators that on that day, Barocas said, "I wonder what would happen if (the boy) had peanuts? I could touch it, and then touch him.""
Seems there were witnesses to it, the other article was much better written.
If true, this teacher needs to have the shiite beat out of them . . . then maybe do some time with Bubba.
So maybe the best decision for parents of special needs kids is to homeschool them.
But if you are seriously thinking that spiking a soda with hot sauce to teach a child to not steal is the same as attempted murder of a child with a peanut allergy, I really don’t have much to say.
from the title, i don't see how someone can think the mother gave the son the peanuts... what about it does not make sense? i'm just asking because i like to take badly written articles or parts of articles to use as examples of bad writing in my writing and grammar classes...
No, the exact opposite, I would never equate the two. This person is deserving of jail time if true, the other one I was upset about because the kid was autistic, had he been my kid I would have shook the teachers hand with the hot sauce incident while laughing and thanking them for driving the point home. My complaint was autistic kids (real autism, not what they are calling it now in most cases) see things and deal with the situation completely different. Many of them would never drink out of another can the rest of their lives, I just think the teacher used poor judgment in dealing with a special needs kid in that manner.
Apparently, in the comments section of the story, a teacher’s aid reported her. Apparently she’s done this type of thing in the past.
What I winder is if a child is this allergic why do they think the school can keep eveything from the child? It only takes one kid leaving his house with peanutbutter left on his hand to hurt the one allergic and the teacher or school has no way to know about that?
Some schools have banned all peanut products from the premises, even PB&J sandwiches for you won lunch. But THIS was a DELIBERATE ATTEMPT to put a child in a coma or worse.................

Thanks for that. We too are a small rural school system, we homeschooled whe4n the school went through some really bad situations with a principal (who’s computer was loaded w/porn among other things) and instead of running him out there was a “circle the wagons” mentality which outraged us. It was sort of below the radar but surfaced, probably by a dedicated teacher.
We “mainstreamed” once some things got straightened out, we also learned that locally, if parents will monitor and take them to task on obvious propaganda as you did, they will usually pay attention.
What’s a TRINDA???
A Trinda is the result of parents who want to make sure their child isn’t confused with any other kid I guess.
If the allegations are true it would also be the name on a cell block for a while if I ran things.
