Sacramento, Calif. (AP) -- California's state controller is warning that disappointing tax receipts will push the state into a bigger budget deficit than expected.
A report released Friday by Controller John Chiang says state revenue is about $1 billion short of what lawmakers and Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger expected when they reached a budget deal during the summer.
The report says the biggest dip is in income tax, with receipts down about 11 percent.

Productive people are already leaving the state due to extreme taxation and regulation.
They are total denial. They think if they can just hold off a little while the money is going to come flowing back in. Think again. Much of that revenue over the last five years was borrowed money that isn’t going to return.
Well, California started the whole “kill big business” attitude and now they realize their socialist society is broke. Tis’ a shame as it is a beautiful state but the liberal mass has ruined it.

It’s not going to stop until they actually do something which obviously they aren’t.
The government pension tax is actually a great idea. The unions tell us that no matter how out of control that the pension scam gets, you can’t stop it because a promise has been made and no one can change it. This where the pension tax comes in. Charge 50% on all government pension checks with automatic tax withholding. No broken promises, just a new tax on people who can obviously afford it.
Controller John Chiang is a notorious liberal who wants to run for Governor in the next election and is always using scare tactics on the budget to raise his profile. He is also on record stating many and much more of taxes need to be raised in CA to keep the budget balanced and restore spending cuts.
Well they should just raise taxes (again) and legalize gay marriage.
That’ll fix the problem. :)
