You can't have affordable health care. You can only have affordable health insurance, and even with that affordable health insurance, it doesn't mean the care, or the services rendered, is also affordable. Unless we're talking about relatively minor ailments, there's going to come a point when you will have drawn more than you put in. How you calculate to offset that difference, has a profound effect on everything else, and I do mean everything, especially if you add 30 - 50 million people who arguably are also going to draw more than they put in.

Since we have children, educated idiots, and all manner of selfishness and cowardice leading this nation at all levels of government, quite frankly, we're screwed unless the vast majority of people in this country have an epiphany....which I don't see happening. We may stave this off for now, or even for a few more elections, but it's coming, just as sure as the sun will rise tomorrow...

Forgot to post the quote in the article I was responding to:

"Folks throw around the term public option, but what we're out here saying is there has to be affordable health care for everybody," said Jane Kleeb of Change That Works Nebraska.

The only thing that will save this once-great nation from the otherwise-inevitable disaster is a massive repentance and returning Jesus Christ to His rightful place in our public and private lives.

Well; for ME and MY family, we DEFINITELY want a new epiphany!

Our old one is a clunker and we are embarrassed to be seen with it.

Problem is - we can't afford a new one.

Perhaps when the Epiphany Stimulus Package (ESP) is passed by Congress; we can then hold our heads high, once again, and have the World's respect.

The problem with healthcare is the 3rd party aspect. People automatically know that they're not going to fit the bill.

Get insurance and government out of the 90% of the picture. Let people pay out of pocket for routine and moderate care, which would bring in competition and lower prices across the board. Give them annual tax credits of up to $5,000 in qualified medical expenses. People can then purchase catastrophic and terminal care from the insurance or government.

You can't have affordable health care.

"Affordable" is another politically charged word, just like the words "fair" and "bipartisan."

"Affordable" is also a relative term. What's affordable for billionaire Bill Gates might be way out of my league.
