LONDON — A Briton accused of hacking into US military and NASA space agency computers was on Friday refused permission to appeal to the new Supreme Court in London against his extradition to the United States.
The High Court had turned down Gary McKinnon's extradition challenges and on Friday refused him leave to appeal, ruling that that his case did not raise "points of law of general public importance" -- a prerequisite of being able to pursue a cause in the Supreme Court.
The 43-year-old could spend life in prison if convicted by a US court of gaining access to 97 computers in 2001 and 2002 in the aftermath of the September 11, 2001 attacks on the United States.

I don’t want him extradited on principle. The extradition treaty we have with the US is one-sided because of the US Constitution....
That’s not their fault though. If its one-sided we should be affording our citizens more rights, not insisting they afford theirs less...
Like the right to have prima facie evidence presented before they get dragged off to a foreign court to face a sentence about 5 times longer and in a far more brutal prison system than they would here?
Are you saying that criminals are punished appropriately in the UK, as opposed to the treatment in the US? Odd we have so many re-offenders.
Besides...he is guilty. He DID do what he is accused of. He even admits it himself.
I read some of the Brithish papers today. Apparently this is a bigger story in the UK and people are quite emotional about it.

That strikes me as mischievous rather than malicious, but its still illegal and its also very dangerous.
I’m all for yobbos and violent criminals being locked up and doing hard labour, if not being hanged (in the case of murder) less so about autistic idiots looking for UFOs facing a double-digit sentence in a place were rape is endemic for non-hardcore criminals....

Actually, I make a point of reading them everyday.
If you wanted to “mortify the flesh” it was easier in the Middle Ages. Wearing hair shirts and self-flagellation were publically acceptable then. I’d rather do that than have to sit down to a diet of UK tabloids.

Breaking into someone elses computer system is not “mischievous “, it is criminal and he should pay.
The UK legal system that allows young teenagers to run amok while jailing a grandma for swearing is not to be held up as a shining example of justice.

Didn’t mean to you had said the UK system was the shining example. It was a general statement, other posters on this thread have stated the UK system is better than the US system.
This guy did it, he admits to it. Throw him in jail.
