Anger and sadness over school closings (end of an era)
Philadelphia Daily News ^ | 10/10/2009 | JOHN BARNED-SMITH & VALERIA RUSS

THE DAY after the Archdiocese of Philadelphia announced plans to close two of the city's storied Catholic high schools - Northeast Catholic and Cardinal Dougherty - livid parents and crestfallen students protested the decision. Hundreds of students from Northeast Catholic, commonly called North Catholic, blew air horns and yelled outside the school last night in exuberant defiance of the archdiocesan decree to close the schools at the end of the school year.

I would imagine some of these kids are going to be in for a “culture shock” when they attend a public/charter school.

Probably have to revive that long-lost and forgotten term “WHITE FLIGHT”. Those who can leave have left and the rest are packing their bags. Philadelphia is totally third-world in the city. Very high murder rate.

The people pulling the strings behind the catholic church were Italians. They didn’t care about their own and even less about southern Germanic people.

They stuck us with a priest previously from South Philly, an Italian neighborhood and they didn’t take care of them either. Priest had health issues and was not up to the job of starting a new parish.

My best friend married a girl from South Philly. His protestant reverend or whatever gave a nice sermon at the wedding.

The catholic priest from her parish at her wedding in South Philly spoke about how nice it was he would come down into the neighborhood and marry a local girl, insinuating he elevated this “trash” above the neighborhood. She was a great girl, he picked well. What kind of a**hole would say that in a sermon? I was there and remember it well. I was in the wedding party and couldn’t believe my ears.

I could tell tales for about two days about how bad the archdiocese of Philly was. I’m just scratching the surface.

At least we didn’t have pedophiles back then, before they started recruiting gay priests.
