Threatening Iran with more sanctions would be counterproductive, Russia's foreign minister declared Tuesday, resisting efforts by U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton to win agreement for tougher measures if Iran fails to prove its nuclear program is peaceful.
Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov spoke as Clinton visited Moscow, her first trip since becoming America's top diplomat

Russia boosts momentum for Iran nuclear sanctions By Lachlan Carmichael (AFP) Sep 23, 2009
Russian President Dmitry Medvedev on Wednesday appeared to countenance tough new nuclear sanctions against Iran, in a major policy shift revealed after talks with US President Barack Obama
"We are in a different place in US-Russia relations, said Michael McFaul, the top official responsible for Russia on Obama's National Security Council, adding there was no "daylight" between the sides on the Iran issue.
"I cannot improve on what President Medvedev said. He could not have been clearer."
Anyone who believes anything coming out of this administration has rose colored ears. This was a non starter from the beginning. Hey OZero, how is that denying a missile defense to the Poles and Czecks working out for you now? Take that Peace Prize and shove it where the sun don’t shine.

Ok..let’s put the missiles back in Poland.
I and a good 99.9% Freepers predicted this the moment zero and his minions started backslapping each other for his supposed big new “break trough” with the Russians last month regarding Iran and “tough” sanctions...
Not holding my breath for someone in the media to connect the dots
Hopefully Fox will connect the dots but I am positive not a peep out of state controlled media.
Sanctions would not work anyways from preventing Iran from acquiring nukes. Furthermore, sanctions arguably take too long to have any affect/effect.
This is why Obama got the peace prize. Globalism will lead to war in the mideast - Israel vs. the World - stay tuned and thank you very much Hillary.
Eventually even some of the “brighter” obama kool-aide drinkers will have to acknowledge his lack of leadership skills
Agreed.

After Obama backed down on antimissile systems for Eastern Europe, the Russians knew we could be played like a flute.
Update:
After announcning she was specifically heading to Moscow to gain firm backing for new Iran sanctions, the new story line for this “failure” is that Hillary actually “agrees” with the Russians that it’s too early to even consider?

The White House and SoS are failures, period.
Accordingly, I will again assert that Barry, the White House, and Hiallry have already accepted Iran as a nuclear fact.
Beyond Iran, Lavrov said U.S. and Russia negotiators have made "considerable" progress toward reaching agreement on a new strategic arms treaty. The 1991 Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty, or START, expires in December and negotiators have been racing to reach agreement on a successor.
The two diplomats also discussed possible cooperation on missile defense following Obama's decision not to proceed with Bush-administration plans to base such a system in eastern Europe. Russia has welcomed Obama's new approach, but has said it was eager for more detailed information.
Clinton said the U.S. would be as transparent as possible.
"We want to ensure that every question that the Russian military or Russian government asks is answered," she said, calling missile defense "another area for deep cooperation between our countries."
