Predictions for a warmer winter are most likely global warming nonsense going to the soft heads of those who believe it. Every winter is going to be a warmer winter, despite the fact that actual temperatures are getting colder and colder. Cold and snow records are already being set this year, but the chill doesn’t reach the fevered imaginations of global warmers.

Let me get this straight.

Energy prices going down means people will use more energy over the winter due to it being cheaper. This makes sense. People will buy more of something when it costs less.

So how can these same morons make the claim that healthcare becoming “free” means people will use it less?

I use quotes on “free” because we all know it’s not really “free”.

When healthcare becomes “free” people will use it “more” because that’s what happens when things are “free”.

“An Associated Press story last week related “good news” about expected
heating costs this winter: namely, it will cost people less to heat
their homes this year, according to the Energy Information Administration.”

Yeah, right.

If there’s a cool summer (as here in Missouri for summer 2009)
or a warm winter...you’ll see the utility company asking for
(and too often getting) a rate increase due to “lagging profitability”.

Right now, Ameren UE (aka, “American’s worst utility company”
heck, they can’t even run a storage reservoir without letting it
break and flood out a Missouri state park) is asking Missouri state
commissioners to grant them a rate increase because they didn’t make
as much money as they wanted to during summer 2009 in Missouri.
Because it was a “cool summer”.

Fortunately, the Missouri commissioners are saying effectively
“hold on a minute, let us think about this a bit”.

I suspect some of the Missouri commissioners actually are exhibiting
a bit of common sense, e.g., “Why should we give Ameren UE as rate
increase due to a cool summer...when they’ll probably make out like
FREAKING BANDITS thanks to the likely COLD winter that will probably follow
this cool summer?”.
