Something really weird going here.
Just got another call with Iran origin that the whole thing is a baseless rumor, he is NOT even feeling ill and it is all a “poke in the eye for Obama” (???)
Wikipedia has been changed back and forth as to his being alive and being dead as opposing sides keep altering the other’s additions/changes.
Alan and I are now caught in the middle of two really good sources in conflict with each other and providing totally opposite information and opposing views.
Which for us puts one of the sources in the light of being a “disinformative” and their trustworthiness is now in question. Good track record with us till now but the Mullahs are buying people or blackmailing them into working for them, so.....
Our opinion (Alan and mine) is that Khamenei is critically ill and either dead or expected to die in teh next 24-48 hours.
In order to get themselves organized the clerics and regime are buying time to sort themselves out. It is now very early morning Tehran time, so we wait and see.
They hid Ayatollah KHOMEINI the real bad guy’s death for nearly two months, during which he was ostensibly in a coma, no visitors allowed (except his son Ahmad and the current “dead or dying” Supreme Leader Khamenei (who was a minor cleric in those days and allowed in on Ahmad’s coat tails) but edicts with his seal and ill man’s squiggly “signature” were still emerging.
With the total chaos that has existed in the clerical and secular ranks and the jostling for power between clerical factions and teh Revolutionary Guard, we think he has died but they are not ready to announce it and deal with the next steps.
You can toss a coin but at the risk of being very wrong, I think he is “dead dead” but “still alive” till everyone sorts themselves out and is ready to announce a succession.
